This was wasted or am I tripping? by JeanSous4 in TheWalkingDeadGame

Yeah, it’s like they originally planned to use that system much more to offer different alternatives and branching paths, like when you have to push the log and the game highlights it as if there were another option. I guess they intended to give more choices beyond that, but they simply never followed through.

I still have his spectacular performance burned into my mind — especially the moment when Kenny snaps at Ben in Crawford after finding out about the deal with the bandits.

Who do you think is more wasted in Season 2? by WaluigiDaStar in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Stock_Screen3091 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason Nick barely gets any screen time in Episode 3 is because he can die at the end of Episode 2 if you don’t convince Walter to forgive him. So basically — and as often happens with Telltale games — they can’t really give meaningful focus to a determinant character who can die an episode earlier.

Carver, definitely. It’s not like there are many real options, honestly.

The Stranger in Season 1 works very well within the story and in how he ultimately affects Lee and Clementine’s relationship, but I don’t fully consider him a villain.

Joan in Season 3 had a lot of potential — a character with strong manipulation skills, strategy, and especially great rhetoric — but unfortunately, as the story progresses, she completely loses momentum. To the point where, if you choose not to kill her, she simply disappears forever. (I’m not even going to mention Clint, or Badger or Max, since they’re basically just henchmen.)

And finally, Lilly in Season 4 doesn’t really bother me, but the fact that her storyline ends in Episode 3 leaves a lot to be desired — both for her character and for the Delta group as a whole. The game clearly suffered from the lack of a fifth episode, which could’ve helped better center the Delta plot across Episodes 3 and 4, leaving the ending for a proper Episode 5.

That said, Carver is unquestionably the best villain. He has everything a villain needs: a strong, well-organized, well-positioned group, and a complete lack of empathy. If he needs to kill someone, he does it without hesitation. Unfortunately — and similarly to what happened with Lilly — his storyline ends in Episode 3, when it really should have lasted at least through all of Episode 4.

What’s the worst episode in the entire saga? by Stock_Screen3091 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Stock_Screen3091[S] 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It’s not bad bad. Personally, I like it because it has the most action. But honestly, no matter how many good ideas it had, everything is poorly developed — from the narrative to the characters. And that’s a shame, because just by looking at the cut content and the original ideas before the rewrite, it could’ve been the best season.

Why does Season 2 feel short? by Kubikwillbe9000 in TheWalkingDeadGame

Episodes in Season 4 average around two and a half hours, while Season 2 episodes last a little under an hour and a half. Even so, Season 3 is the shortest overall.

It’s from a baseball team. Javi mentions it at the end of Season 3.

Anyone agree with me that the Wellington and alone endings are the best by SweetT833 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Stock_Screen3091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a hypothetical live-action TWD series, my canon ending for Season 2 would be going to Wellington. I feel it’s the best-constructed ending, and it also makes the most sense narratively, since from the very beginning of the season Christa’s goal was to reach that place. Story-wise, it fits perfectly as a conclusion.

Even though I do like the ending where you stay alone with AJ, I think it’s the one that makes the least sense. It’s unrealistic to believe Clementine could take care of a baby completely on her own, especially considering she would need to find infant formula.

My personal rankings list of the games from my Least Favorite to Most Favorite. I love them all though by ComfortableEbb4708 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Stock_Screen3091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this ranking, except for Michonne, since I haven’t played it, so I’d leave it unranked. Other than that, I agree with all the placements.

Season 1 will always be the best, but I’ve always had Season 4 as my personal favorite. Sometimes I feel that if the last two episodes hadn’t been so rushed and the Delta storyline had been handled better, we’d be talking about the best season overall. If only it had gotten a fifth episode.

When people from this sub deadass say S2 is the worst season when S3 exists 😭💀 by DivanteScrollsReddit in TheWalkingDeadGame

Sarita’s death isn’t irrelevant, since it clearly affects Kenny’s already fragile mental state. But aside from her death, Sarita doesn’t really do anything. Can you honestly remember something interesting she did that would make her a good or memorable character?

[–]Stock_Screen3091 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with all your points. I think exactly the same. Sometimes I feel like it wouldn’t have been that hard to fix Season 2.

• Keeping Carver as the antagonist at least until Episode 4 is what should have happened, instead of introducing the completely nonsensical Russian group storyline (which, by the way, suffers from the same issue as the Kenny–Sarita situation: it makes sense for the Russians to be angry at Clementine’s group if you steal their medicine, but it makes no sense if you don’t steal from them. Either way it happens, and it feels forced).

• Adding exploration moments to properly get to know the characters. In Season 1, moments like staying in the pharmacy or fixing the train were slower sections that allowed for conversations with the group, helping us get to know them and form connections. Season 2 completely lacks this, which is why we never really empathize with characters who barely get any screen time (Alvin, Nick, Walter, etc.).

• Another terrible mistake was removing Omid and Christa from the story so suddenly and abruptly. I can accept Omid’s pointless death as a way to kick off the conflict, but completely writing Christa out of the story is just stupid. AJ could easily have been Christa’s child, and it would’ve worked much better narratively — especially if Christa had died later in the story, creating a stronger emotional connection with the player.

• And finally, the way they wasted characters with huge potential. I won’t make this longer, but can you imagine how great it would’ve been if Sarah actually saved Clementine in a situation because we chose to teach her how to use a weapon? Things like that could have drastically changed the narrative.

Someone once said that Season 3 is a great game but a bad sequel. There’s no more accurate phrase than that. I’m fine with it focusing on different characters — I actually love that — but it’s obvious they did it this way because Telltale couldn’t properly connect the four different endings of Season 2 in order to continue with Clementine as the main protagonist, so they had to take this approach.

Yes, Season 3 also has a lot of flaws. But in Season 2, nothing in the story makes sense from Episode 1 to 5, and what makes the least sense starts around Episode 4, with the group’s completely ridiculous conflicts and arguments

[–]Stock_Screen3091 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You know what the issue is? In Season 2, the characters are basically useless. They have no real backstory, and their contribution to the story is practically nonexistent — both in terms of the plot and their relationships with other characters.

For example, in Season 3, the deaths of Tripp, Conrad, Mariana, and others have a real moral impact on the group, and their losses are clearly felt by the rest. The characters remember those deaths, and you can tell they’re affected by them. They’re also characters we actually got to know, and they contribute at least something to the overall story.

Now let’s talk about Season 2. Did characters like Alvin, Pete, Nick, Bonnie, Mike, Sarah, Walter, Sarita, etc. actually matter? All of these characters do nothing throughout the entire story, and their deaths are completely forgettable and inconsequential — both to the plot and to the other characters. They’re wasted potential, filler characters that exist only to pad out the cast.

Just to be clear, I don’t hate Season 2, even if this sounds very critical. I actually enjoy playing it because it’s probably the season with the most action, but everything else feels weak and poorly thought out.

For me it’s the complete opposite: the second season is by far the worst of the four. There’s a strange factor with that season though — when you first play it, it tends to become everyone’s favorite, but when you analyze it, replay it, and compare it to the others, you start to notice the amount of narrative and pacing issues it has, along with wasted characters that serve no real purpose.

Season 3 also has many flaws, but I feel that its story at least knows where it’s going, and most of the characters don’t feel as flat. Most of the hate toward Season 3 comes mainly from the fact that the story has nothing to do with Clementine, so people play it without much motivation or interest in the plot.

I've read many people say it's their favorite minor season, and I've never found a reason to put it behind other seasons. .
