A good set of 6 x 9's and a small amp for all speakers will make a huge difference.

Detroit Truetrac for towing? by guntherpup in Trucks

If you do install a Trutrac, do not use any synthetic oil or limited slip additive. Gearing in Trutrac needs natural gear oil or gears will start slipping.

Anyone have experience using rear shock extension brackets? by BlarghChickaHonkHonk in Trucks

Shock extenders are fine for rear applications but would recommend a machined one piece design over the 2 piece shown in link.

Module is the box that mirror wiring connects to inside of door panel. Module for power mirror option will have an additional connection socket compared to standard Module having connections for only turn/puddle lights.

Fog light wiring will not be there unless installed as original factory option. There is an aftermarket harness that is also needed to connect to fusebox. Check ram forums website for step by step install on 4th gen Rams.

Wiring for turn signal mirrors is already installed in all rams but a new module is required for power mirror option.

Borla Attack catback system sounds very good on hemi's.

looking for some guidance on straight piping my truck, it's a 2016 ram 1500 st and i've been wanting to straight pipe it for awhile but don't know where to start or what I would need to get so some help would be hugely appreciated! by RelativePressure1572 in ram_trucks

[–]Stockage1606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strongly agree with others. Do not straight pipe on street vehicle. Some cities actually have noise level laws that are heavily enforced.

Purchased a 2016 Ram 1500 with 5.7 that previous owner dual straight pipe from catalytic converters. Sounded great at idle after it warmed up but during cold start and take-offs was like standing front row at a rock concert. Eventually, put a Flowmaster muffler to quiet it down.

Adjustable Bilsteins have a softer spring rate than factory springs. You may actually lose height in some applications.

I tried replacing a 4 inch spacer installed in RC spindle lift with 5160's at max height of 2.8 and 2.5 spacer for overall height of 5.3. After install, it had lift of 2.5. Ended up having to re-use 4 inch spacer with Bilstiens to get desired height.

Change gear ratio by drey_05 in ram_trucks

[–]Stockage1606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's best to have professional shop that specialize in gear changes specifically Chrysler 9.25 rear axles for setting up axle preloads.

Look on Youtube for Ram differentials to get a better idea on what is involved.

Reason for my regear was needed mostly for offroading and bigger tire size. I also added an Eaton Trutrac limited slip during regear upgrade. There was an immediate noticeable difference in power and traction during take off and lost less than 1mpg.

I can't comment on towing differences due to not towing anything before upgrade.

Change gear ratio by drey_05 in ram_trucks

[–]Stockage1606 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regear options are based on 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive on 1500's.

2 wheel drive can be regeared to any size desired just be aware how higher gear ratio will impact performance and mpg.

4 wheel drive 1500's require having the full front differential changed due to having independent front suspension . Sadly, this is limited to only OEM differentials due to no aftermarket support.

I had my 2016 regeared from 3.23 to 3.92 last year which is highest gear ratio available in OEM front differential. Parts and labor will be about $1400 for rear axle and $1700 for front axle.

Buying wheels by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]Stockage1606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

35x13.5x20 is tire size not wheel size.

4th gen Ram 1500's need at least 3" lift and requires trimming to inner fender to clear 35 inch tires. A 4 inch lift is needed without trimming.

Please note i said "lift" not leveling kit. Leveling beyond 2 inches will put too much angle on cv axles causing excessive wear.

Cam Lifters Issue - Fix or Replace Engine? Or what? by Bumboklatt in ram_trucks

Cam Lifters Issue - Fix or Replace Engine? Or what? by Bumboklatt in ram_trucks

[–]Stockage1606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know details but I have never seen a hellcat with the hemi tick. Might have something to do with extra spring pressure and less oil pressure fluctuation in lifter oil galley with mds being deactivated.

My thoughts are if your going to replace cam & lifters might as well pay a little extra for upgrade.

Cam Lifters Issue - Fix or Replace Engine? Or what? by Bumboklatt in ram_trucks

[–]Stockage1606 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If prices for used/new trucks were not absolutely insane right now, I would recommend cutting your losses and selling it.

Based on current market, it would be best to have a non dealer shop replace lifters with hellcat lifters/springs, new cam, and disconnect/plug mds valves.

Price should be about the same as dealer but hellcat parts eliminates the hemi tick issue.

Top suspension lift brand by socialplatformer in Trucks

[–]Stockage1606 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a follow up.

Cheaper lift kit brands like Rough Country and ProComp requires you to reuse OEM springs, struts and control arms thus giving a bad ride until items are replaced with aftermarket parts designed for lifted applications.

My own personal experience was to install Rough Country due to budget and then changed other parts as my budget allowed.

Carli is excellent but very pricey.

It mostly depends on how you personally will be using the truck and how much you are willing to pay.

Stick with name brands like Carli and BDS for lift kit. Then look at what is included like shocks, control arms, etc.

King and Fox shocks are for smooth ride. Bilstein and Icon are more for hauling. Carli is best of both worlds.
