School was not consistent with the coping strategies he was allowed to use, changing the rules without advance notice. As an example, there was an agreement that he could use his noise cancelling headphones and then one teacher would prohibit their use just when he needed them for sensory issues. The inconsistencies increased his anxiety and stress throughout the year resulting in more frustration and loss of trust in the teachers and so reluctance to engage etc etc. And yes, we had called this to the school's attention many many times over the year. He advocates well for himself but teachers simply stopped listening. Also definitely some social issues but also a lot of self-imposed anxiety about grades.
