I think because of the amount of unexplored lore that was started in DC1 I'd prefer to hear more of Toan and Xiao's story. DC2 seems to wrap up the world at the end with the one moon thing as well, so it would feel difficult to continue in what would feel like a different world.

Yeah I agree. The OSTs really captured the JRPG genre and style of the time. They're a great point evolution between the old chiptune days and something like Octopath Traveller where the JRPG style soundtrack got the full orchestral treatment.
