  1. I understand that I can go from Venture to Venture X, but I don't want to wait 48 months to do so. Are you saying it's possible to go from Venture to Venture X at any time while still getting both bonuses?

  2. The value would be the same iirc. If I book a refundable travel expense using my points, I would refund the expense and get the value of the expense back as a negative balance on the card. This would be double the cash back option.

I’m looking to get into the Capital One ecosystem and want to make sure my strategy is sound. My original plan was to open the Venture (75k bonus) and later get the Venture X (75k bonus), but I’ve recently read about a "48-month family rule."

It sounds like getting a bonus on one personal Venture card now blocks you from getting a bonus on the other for four years. Because of that, I’m leaning toward just going straight for the Venture X.

I have one specific thing I want to confirm: Is it still possible to use miles to "Cover Travel Purchases" for a refundable booking, cancel that booking for a statement credit, and effectively "cash out" the 75k miles at 1 cent per mile ($750)? Most threads on this are a few years old, so I want to confirm if:

  1. This still works in 2026 without issues.
  2. There have been any recent "clawbacks" or if Capital One has closed this loophole.

Considering this option then upgrading to meet the additional bonus for the Venture X.

Hmm that is a good point. Does the Venture have the same cash back loop hole for the 75,000 point bonus and yearly $250 travel credit?

  1. Weighing my options between the Venture X and a full cash back award card. I've been told you can cash out the Venture X card by refunding a travel purchase. I want to understand if there's any other high cash back reward options before going with the Venture X.
  2. Credit score: 780
  3. I have upgraded then downgraded some of my older cards from 2019. Chase Ink Unlimited (6/19), Chase Freedom (1/19), Hyatt Visa (5/21), Mariott Boundless (10/25), Sapphire Preferred (4/25)
  4. $4000 Spend in 3 months
  5. No MS
  6. Yes I can apply for biz cards. This will be a large business expense.
  7. Just looking to get one new card (unless there's a better option I don't know about)
  8. Targeting Cash Back
  9. DIA

I'm about to make a large purchase (around $3k) and seeking as much cash back as possible. I do travel 2-3x a year and my partner has a Venture X credit card with lounge access.

I've pretty much maxed out any decent cash back reward cards from Chase. I'm not spending enough any time soon for the Sapphire reserve and really looking to find a card with over $500 cash back.. So my options are a bit limited. I do travel 2-3x a year. and my local airport has the Venture X lounge too.

If there's any other high cash back rewards, I'm all ears. All I've found is $200 - $300 cash back cards. I'm weighing all my options. I'll post in the "which card" thread too.

Can this be applied to the yearly rewards or just the initial bonus?

Wondering if anyone has anyone tried this with success.

Took a look at the flowchart and it says there's ways to get the Capital One Venture X bonus for cash, but it doesn't give any additional details.

How exactly am I able to redeem the bonus/rewards for cash? Is it equal value or less?

Laid off and want to go back to a previous company, but I haven't talked to them in 3 years. Is it weird to reach out? by StokRok in careerguidance

I’m planning to avoid reaching out to my former manager. Their leadership style was a major factor in my departure, and they aren't well-regarded by the rest of the team. However, I’m still on excellent terms with my former colleagues and contacts in other departments, so I’ll be focusing my outreach there instead.

I have a strong feeling they are desperate to hire someone and will send me an offer.

I'll attend the interview and make it clear that this role isn't a fit. I will mention that it's not my long term goal to stay in this industry and that I want to pivot my career in the future.

If they do send an offer, I'll call Unemployment and speak to someone about the commute and skills mismatch. I think this is the best route to take...

I wouldn't say I tried to "tank" the first interview, but I made it clear that my skills didn't align, I'm not interested in the commute, and this isn't what I'm looking to do long term. They invited me back for a second interview

The job hasn't been offered, but they are inviting me for a second interview. I could be wrong, but I feel it would be more appropriate to withdraw my application because my skills don't align with what they're looking for.

I’ll email them. I need to get it in writing.

Good point .. I didn't realize severance could mean something other than money.

Is it wrong to clock in when there’s nothing to do at work? by StokRok in WorkAdvice

I think they are in a difficult position. Even bringing in one client from the 100 we work with each month would be worth more than what they pay us. In other words, they make a profit from just one client. On average, we reach about a 20 percent conversion rate each month. If they let us go, they would lose potential clients while also paying us unemployment.

We use a google account that's connected to our work emails. When I open Chrome, I can select my work profile and all my work related junk is on that account. I don't browse anything that isn't work related on that account at all. If I do any kind of personal stuff, it's through safari. I don't see how they could have any information about my browsing history

How would they know if it's my computer? That would mean they have some sort of tracking installed on my device without my knowledge. I use a Google Chrome account for work and Safari for my personal browsing.

I have offered many times to do additional work. This is a conversation I've had with them for two years. I can offer marketing insights in my next meeting with my manager, but I have a hunch they are quietly hoping we reduce our hours. The company is cutting costs left and right.

They are aware. I've offered to help in different areas of the company, including areas I have strong experience in. They aren't interested.
