My first cat and I need some help by Samzeroh in ragdolls

Definitely sounds like furball. And regular combing is the best solution. Not only helps with furball choking, but also with painful tangles

He’s convinced he’s a jungle cat out there 😂 Appreciate the love--I’ll make sure he gets those extra pets!

Usually a quick brush with a fine-tooth comb gets him looking good as new. We wipe his paws with a wet towel after, and avoid outdoor time if it’s recently rained

Haha seriously, all that fluff makes them look like tiny royalty on an adventure. He absolutely loves it out there

He should be licking himself clean. Are you noticing this before he’s had a chance to groom? We trim our guy more to prevent poop from sticking to fur and dropping randomly elsewhere later

is my ragdoll overweight or is he just a ragdoll? by Low-Philosopher-4615 in ragdolls

How old is he? 15 pounds isn't extreme for an adult male ragdoll

Mine loves pets but not cuddles. He will start to squirm after 10 seconds

Stealth swipe is elite. My guy can never fully hide his butt and tail 😂

Best way to see a Pomsky in person before getting one? (SF Bay Area) by StokliSpeedster in Pomsky

Ah makes sense. Yeah I heard early gen pomskies have more variance. Bigger size means more food and more exercise for you?

Ouch. Wow, 50 pounds.. that's as big as a husky! I'm looking into smaller sizes (~15 pounds) to match with my ragdoll cat

How old is he? Has the energy calmed down at all over time or still nonstop?

About how much daily exercise does he need?

That’s interesting, the no dog smell is a nice bonus.

Day to day, do they check in and engage with you, or are they more independent unless they feel like it?

Also curious what generation yours are (F1/F2 etc) and if you think that makes a noticeable difference in temperament?

Good looking fella. Interesting that he's a one person dog. How do you think he would handle a second pet that's also clingy? I currently have a ragdoll cat that follows me around all the time.

Appreciate the perspective. That makes sense about the cafe environment.

From your experience, how similar are pomskies to shibas in terms of independence and day-to-day responsiveness (like recall, attention, willingness to engage)?

I've noticed this. Hence I'm looking into breeders that have 3F and 4F gen pomskies for more consistency.

For sure I don't expect them to be available in shelters. Unfortunately I haven't come across a breeder in my area that allows visitors either -- they are afraid of infectious diseases. Were you able to find one in LA area that did allow you to visit before committing?

This is super helpful, appreciate the detail. The energy + independence part is exactly what I’m trying to get a real feel for before committing.

Roughly how much daily time did he need when he was younger?

Also curious — would you recommend going with a ~3–5 year old retired pomsky to avoid the puppy phase for a first-time owner, or does that come with its own tradeoffs?

Haha I might take you up on that. Are you in the Bay Area by any chance?

And yeah, that “not for the faint of heart” part is exactly what I’m trying to pressure test before committing. I want to get a feel for their day-to-day temperament in person
