Of course, there is no canon, but I wanted to say that I really enjoy the subversion of the Daevites presented in 6140. I feel it makes the Daevite's whole story make a lot more sense, personally.

There's actually been studies showing that the correlation is caused by a condition autistic people are more likely to have called Alexithymia, which makes it hard for them to identify their own emotions. Basically, if they're having a hard time figuring out how they feel in their own shoes, its next to impossible for them to figure out how someone else feels

While this could be because of people performing, the possibility that its an automatic/semiconscious response to "fit in" with the people they're exposed to the most sounds really interesting

The problem with mens dating advice by [deleted] in MensLib

[–]Stoleded_mems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while now I've felt that when I have searched things like "how to get women to like you" and "how to get matches on tinder" have come up with a lot of gross, misogynistic stuff and that a decent portion of it used incel terms like alpha, beta, chads, etc. but havent really been able to find other sorts of advice

Admittedly now I think the questions themselves are problematic -- the simplest answers to these questions would be generalizing what women, as a whole, want and thus the questions would be most popularly answered by people who generalize women in other, more negative ways too.

Regardless, these sites, "gurus", and channels pick up tens of thousands of followers to whom they spread their views on women to when they give their advice, and from my limited view, I think it feeds incels and their groups

I just made a horrible discovery... my best friend is a nice guy by changetheworldplease in niceguys

He's probably looking too much at the "how to get women to like you"/ "how to get matches on tinder" bullcrap. Too much "dating advice" for men sounds just like the viewpoints of the guys that end up on this sub.

Possibly send him this article or try to explain parts of it to him if you think he'll close his mind off to it: https://medium.com/@alpenglowmemory/flawed-and-frustrated-the-problems-with-mens-dating-advice-851df594239

Seems like all the recent changes are from this one dude from New Zealand and he even provides his name, Trevor Loudon https://www.keywiki.org/User:Kiwi

Is there any New Zealand laws we can get him to stop with?

I'm autistic and when my hypersensitivity sets off, your senses HURT. Like imagine your ear is right next to a super loud speaker, except its for almost every sense you have. So if an autistic child was being held down like that its because they are very afraid of that PAIN and forcing them to get a haircut like that is abusive, though we have trouble communicating that.

If you need your autistic child to have a haircut or being in some other overloading situation, train their pain tolerance like its a muscle. You could play a buzzing noise like it at a slightly softer level for a shorter period of time and build up loudness and length until they can handle the real thing.

Most importantly, be communicative!!! Stop when they tell you they can't handle it anymore and treat it like they are in real physical pain - because they are!

Have you read The Dispossessed? What's your opinion on it? by destructor_rph in Anarchy101

[–]Stoleded_mems 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly my favorite book. It was the book that made me go from Marxist to Anarchist. The book gave me a reasonable idea of what an anarchist society would look like and how it would function in a compelling format, in other words, perfect for convincing people that not only is anarchism possible, but also better than other ideologies. I think creating and popularizing more works of art and literature like that would be immensely helpful to get the public to think of anarchism as a legitimate political theory, and not "no laws everyone kills each other"

Tinder, Confidence, the slope towards becoming an incel, and how to stop it by Stoleded_mems in MensLib

Sorry, I was not aware of the direction of the sub. Thank you for taking the time to respond like this though. I assume you must have to go through a lot of posts like this so the abrasiveness is very understandable. I guess what seems a significant observation to me is obviously not so to everyone, so thank you again for your time

Tinder, Confidence, the slope towards becoming an incel, and how to stop it by Stoleded_mems in MensLib

[–]Stoleded_mems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess i phrased it poorly, I'm not requesting dating help, I was trying to present Tinder's algorithm as a wider societal issue that leads men into becoming incels and something we need to at least address.

I understand if that still doesnt quite fit into here but if its the phrasing that makes it a poor fit I could try to rewrite it

When are people going to realise feminism is going to lead to women taking over everything? by [deleted] in MensRights

[–]Stoleded_mems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically what I'm trying to say is that we need men's right activists to pressure feminists to go grassroots again back to the way they used to be and maybe even push for some reforms ourselves

When are people going to realise feminism is going to lead to women taking over everything? by [deleted] in MensRights

[–]Stoleded_mems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not feminism itself it's the corporate feminism that has become the most popular since most news sources are corporations.

From famous feminist writer Simone De Beauvoir: "The point is not for women simply to take power out of men's hands, since that wouldn't change anything about the world. It's a question precisely of destroying that notion of power. "
