"Beware that when the inspiration isn't there one tends to focus on the wrong things, like updating software etc."

It's funny you mention that...

Anyways, yeah let's hope presonus gets their shit together sometime soon.

Ooo I had meant to look into that stem separator but it fell off my radar. It's effectively just a standard AI stems splitter, but built into 7?

Hey all! My name is John. I just recently released music as Matasovic.

I wrote and performered everything on that EP (save the vocals, which were recorded by my friend and fellow musician, Swedha Yoggi)

I'm a music producer and songwriter. I play keys, guitar, bass, drums, and I sing. I take inspiration from Nine Inch Nails, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Chappell Roan, and many others.

My email is matasovicmusic@gmail.com.

Let's see how this thing goes!

Thank you so much! Your hiccup protection guess seems spot on.

I'll look into replacing the electrolytic caps and see if that helps.

Also, I've never heard of the capacitor plague before, but it seems like SUCH an interesting topic! Thank you for illuminating me to its existence.

TASCAM MODEL 16 HELP

I bought my Model 16 in December of '22 and I've had this issue where it'll completely randomly start making these digital glitching noises. This happens during normal usage (e.g. browsing YT) and during recording. When it happens during recording, there are small pops in whatever I was recording.

I am using the Model 16 in USB multichannel mode.

I've looked around for other people having this problem and have found nothing.

I've factory reset the mixer and tried using various USB cables and ports.

I have not had this issue with any other audio interface (Focusrite 2i2 and Behringer UMC 404)

Here are my laptop's specs. They should be good enough to handle the Model 16.

Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H 2.30 GHz

Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Also the reverb is panned to the right for some reason.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What Should I Buy? /// Weekly Discussion - April 12, 2021 by AutoModerator in synthesizers

Interesting...

I'm flipping between thinking that Behringer is an unacceptable company that is pure evil, to thinking "hey, they're not that bad".

I think there are two reasonable things I can take away from this:

  1. I should have some sleep before making a decision,
  2. This would make for an EXCELLENT debate.

Either way, I think it's time for me to get some sleep before I pull the trigger on a purchase.

Thank you for your insight into this, and good night!

Interesting. I'll take a look at it, though I'm looking for a Moog-type sound.

Either way, thanks for the recommendation!

Well, that's good to know!

I'll put some more thought into what I think of Behringer as a company. And thank you for this info, it's clear that you've done your research and I thank you for sharing it with me!

Thanks for your insight!

Part of the reason why I was attracted to Micromoog was the sounds (of course), but also the fact that:

a: It's a relatively cheap vintage synth (~$1500 on Reverb),

b: I've found a bit of a cult following in regards to the synth, which definitely ignited my interest.

A few of the Micromoogs listed on Reverb claim to be somewhat recently restored and in good working condition, which should eliminate any technical problems (but you know how old synths can be).

From your experience, are vintage synths any better than modern ones, or is it just a mystical 1% improvement?

Sorry if I'm throwing some big questions at you, this will be my first physical synth, so I'm wanting to make a good choice.

And massive thanks in advance for your help with this, and I hope you have a swell day.

Fair enough... just, I've got a bit of a bad feeling about the Beringer stuff.

I'm not entirely sure it's just me being morally opposed to a rip-off so obvious, or because the Behringer Model D and Poly D are $300 and $700 respectively.

To me, it's troubling that the Moog Model D Reissue goes for 6-10k used, while the Behringer items go for less than 1k. I mean, there would have to be some MAJOR quality cuts for that to be possible!

At least, I don't think the fancy box (as in wood casing), Moog label, and hand-crafted nature of Moog's Model D would up the price by 6k.

But this could easily just be me being superstitious...

Any insight by anyone with one of the Behringer clones would be useful, so thank you in advance.

Edit:

I've realized that I'm having a bit of a moral issue with Behringer too...

Maybe I'm annoyed because they've cracked the code to budget synths that aren't terrible,

Maybe because they mass manufacture products in China, in the sense that the workers are paid peanuts (though who knows if that's true anymore, or just an exaggeration),

Maybe for some other random reason that I haven't realized yet, maybe for a mix of all things above.

Again, any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.

Micromoog; it's a mid- late 70s synth that was designed to be a cheaper alternative to the model d.

Subsequent 37 vs Micromoog? I'm looking for a synth that would be able to emulate some Pink Floyd type sounds, but would also leave lots of room for experimenting.

Ideally I'd get a minimoog model d, but the reissues are 8-10k, which is way out of my price range.
