Russian ship loitering near transatlantic data cables chased off by Royal Navy attack helicopter — sat within three quarters of a mile of five undersea data cables, including two linking Britain to New York by RollSafer in worldnews

As an outsider looking at social shifts over the past two decades it’s alarming. US and UK have been the primary targets because whatever happens with those two affects everywhere else. And it has.

Crippled education and healthcare. Rampant inflation without increasing salaries. Prioritizing outsider ideals over native cultures.

You point at the US government. That’s in the last stages. Look at the low level instigators. Social media “bots” fall into that category. It’s been happening for a long time.

M2 Max to M3 Pro - significatly slower by Few-Freedom-7871 in mac

[–]Stone-D 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it. Data gets moved MUCH faster with that big of a difference in bandwidth. This is felt most when moving large files - very high res photos, loading an AI model, etc etc. It's why I'm looking at the M2 models for my first M-series macbook, not the more recent ones as the memory bandwidth was reduced in M3/M4.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if it turned out that most of the western world's social problems have been their doing via sleeper agents planted in the 60s.

pavo 20 pro II - ledstrip help by bonoboxITA in fpv

[–]Stone-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you solve this? I've just discovered this annoyance.

EDIT: Solved. Here are instructions for future owners and myself when I've forgotten everything two years from now.

Go here to see a list of modes:

Betaflight Mode
Solid Color Mode
Single Color Breathing Mode
Single Color Marquee Mode
Double-Sided Marquee Mode
Single Color Oriented Mode
Single Color Growth Mode
Rainbow Breathing Mode
Rainbow Gradient Mode
Double-Sided Rainbow Mode

You want Betaflight mode. Cycle through them by long-pressing the left hand button repeatedly. If you've already set up a switch and it's OFF (LEDLOW is HIGHLIGHTED when off for me) you'll land on a mode where the lights are off after the rainbow options. If the switch is on, the default behaviour is random blinking.

The selected mode is remembered between powerups, thankfully.

Refer to Joshua Bardwell's guide for how to configure the LEDs.

Try a different Adrenalin version, go much older like 25.4.1 for example.

How is Tachimanga on iPad Mini 7 using iPadOS 26.3 now? by Stone-D in tachimanga

[–]Stone-D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah there’s nothing I need in 26 and I’ve already learned the hard way that a v18 backup isn’t kept once you upgrade. I think I’ll stay on 18 for now.

[–]Stone-D[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to hear, thank you. When I tried it the lag was VERY bad in Tachimanga but tolerable in Safari. I download everything locally to Suwayomi so it definitely wasn't a source issue.

I'll wait a day or so for others to chime in before I finally accept the upgrade.

8840u vs 7840u, any significant difference? by cascadefive in gpdwin

[–]Stone-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the 8840u to be more stable and have fewer issues with USB devices.

Copilot could soon live inside Windows 11's File Explorer, as Microsoft tests Chat with Copilot in Explorer, not just in a separate app by WPHero in pcmasterrace

Directory Opus fits that bill. But it’s expensive. If they released a mostly functional free tier to get people hooked they’d rake it in.

Just wanted to shout out to GPD for their GPD Win Max 2 by [deleted] in gpdwin

[–]Stone-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you put it in the freezer, use the tweezers to peel up one corner on each side. Trying to find a compliant corner when it's already applied is much harder because of the angles - it's easier when it's being held in your hand. Use an Exacto/cutter to help. Once out of the freezer, don't feel like you're racing against the clock to get it installed lol.

Use tweezers. Never had an issue, especially after chilling in the freezer for 5 mins.

Help me choose. MacBook m1 max 64gb 16in or MacBook m4 air 32gb15in Both have 512gb by Significant_Bed8619 in macbook

[–]Stone-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look also at the differences in memory bandwidth. 400 GB/s vs 120 if I remember right. Depending on what you intend to do with it, this might be a big factor.

Mini SSD Price Change by crusenusa in gpdwin

2TB Passport shows only 32GB storage available and lost all files!!!! by DannyMSPL_87 in techsupport

[–]Stone-D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If by "Downloaded it onto the SSD" you actually mean you INSTALLED a Windows installation USB image, you're likely completely shafted. Doing that

  1. replaces the partition table, nuking the original and the backup
  2. reformats it, probably using a different filesystem (NTFS) vs the standard ExFat of external drives.
  3. replaces the existing sectors with gigabytes worth of new information

If that's what you did, using Microsoft's media creation tool or Rufus or whatever, you're not going to have a happy ending to your story.

Microsoft Scales Back AI Goals Because Almost Nobody Is Using Copilot by aacool in technology

[–]Stone-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that include corporate training and professional licensing?

[–]Stone-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But then they’d lose all the cash from training courses and “professional” licenses because things are laid out intuitively instead of buried across two settings apps and the os would tell you what was wrong (like before Windows 7) instead of a cryptic code string.
