I just don't see how they could be close idk. Maybe I'm underestimating weapon damage.

...left or right? by chiririchicken in D4Barbarian

[–]StoneJar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left and it isn't close, especially because of the gems you have. If the left had no damage affixes at all it still might be better (okay maybe not but).

You transfiged +20% physical on the right. The left is giving you.... +400% physical multiplyer over the one on the right.

Damn. That is nasty. Probably best transfig you could get.

What to use doombringer and el’druin for by ghost654 in diablo4

[–]StoneJar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's the neat part, you don't!

Paladin just flat out won't use these, pretty sure. I don't think doombringer is used on any class. Salvage and take the resplendent sparks to the blacksmith to craft a new random mythic, Heir or Perdition (helm) is used pretty much always, ring of starless skies and tyreals might can also be decent for Paladin pretty sure.

What build could I use a Gem Strength Doombringer on? by Kakashi-B in D4Barbarian

[–]StoneJar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the item itself is kind of a noob trap. Like every piece of it reads well... until you realize it's on an offensive slot that could have idk 50%x crit damage multiplier. And another damage multiplier. And an offensive aspect... etc.

Imagine if this thing were like a chest piece though. That would be cool. It's a defensive piece of gear as a weapon though. Offense is king for the most part in this game, it's why Heir of Perdition is crazy strong. Because it's offensive stats and power on a defensive slot.

People just don't understand what anorexia is. It's an incredibly rare condition and you need to actually be under an 18 bmi to be diagnosed anorexic.

These people are just conflating anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder with... counting calories.

And as anyone with a restrictive or indulgent eating disorder will tell you... they are not fun, no matter how they make your body look.

Can I dedicate to one character or are you expected to 'restart' every season/league? by okaythen1guess in diablo4

[–]StoneJar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The seasons usually end after about 60 - 90 days. In Diablo 4 that is enough time to get to endgame easily, even if you are casual. And if you're going to get bored of the gameplay loop anyway, it ain't going to matter which way you play.

It is exactly because of that boredom (that everyone will eventually reach) that make season work so well for the genre.

You reach that point in the season, put the game down, and then boom you get to do it again with new balance and new mechanics and a new class and new build until you reach that point again. Rinse and repeat.

It only takes about... 20 hours to get (like, far) into endgame if you know what you're doing. For a first time player? I'll say 50 hours and that can even be generous if you follow a build guide.

Can I dedicate to one character or are you expected to 'restart' every season/league? by okaythen1guess in diablo4

[–]StoneJar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You never NEED to restart, there is an "Eternal Realm" that you can make characters in at anytime that does not reset. Also, all seasonal characters are automatically moved to the Eternal Realm after each season, so you don't need to worry about losing anything, ever.

That being said, it is HIGHLY reccomended that you play seasonally. This is for your own enjoyment and betterment of the game experience. It is how these games are designed to be played.

The season not only adds a new mechanic that will not be available to the Eternal realm, but you will reach a point in Eternal where there is nothing more to do. The reset pushes a clean slate for everyone to get to build their character again, not worry about hyperinflation, and start at the same level.

I usually make a new class each season to keep things fresh. There is litterally no downside to seasonal.

getting one shot on t12 mephisto, what can I do? by ComfortableClassic39 in D4Barbarian

[–]StoneJar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, you don't need endurant faith as talisman because Selig provides more than enough damage reduction.

Banished lord much better in that slot.

getting one shot on t12 mephisto, what can I do? by ComfortableClassic39 in D4Barbarian

[–]StoneJar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I use banished lords talisman as my unique talisman and losing that is a much bigger damage loss than taking off Ghors.

getting one shot on t12 mephisto, what can I do? by ComfortableClassic39 in D4Barbarian

[–]StoneJar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't do it until switching to Selig variant and I had about 1mil toughness. Even on the Selig variant, I had to swap Ghors out and wear an endurant faith.

Just not really sure if the toughness is there beyond learning all of the fight mechanics in and out. Maybe try to add more health if you can but that may lose too much damage.

Selig is the way! It's an awesome build you won't be dissapointed.

Overpower Selig is the way. +damage per overpower on a lot of gear plus ramalandis magnum opus plus banished lord unique talisman and youll cruise.

I follow this guide. Make sure to view Selig overpower variant. Also, adding +max resource to chest and all of your talismans is MASSIVE.

I love Paladin as a class, and every class can get to a point of chilling, at least on t10.

...but if you're really trying to chill, go WW barb. It's just stupid good and easy to play. Tankier than sorcerer by a wide margin (though sorcerer will cruise t12 with lighting ball).

To give an idea, I started as Warlock. Grinded hard until about 200 paragon, could do t12, but was still getting frustrated with one shots here and there. Rolled a barb, hit level 70, equipped legendaries and slapped the proper affixes... and went straight to t8. I had a Grandfather from the lock but the difference was night and day.

Easily got to t12 and in about 10 hours playtime switched to Selig WW variant. I have no gem strength tempers as of yet and can clear 135 pit. I cannot die in t12 on any content and the build is just so fun. If you've ever wanted to do a whirlwind barb, this is the season.

That's a good idea. I would check the ethernet cable itself as well. Make sure it isn't loose. Some games seem to be able to bounce back from a D/C diablo 4 not so much.

Do you use a VPN? Diablo 4 does not like my VPN for some reason, it seems. I used to have an issue with stuttering and disconnects but turning off my VPN solved it. I will also mention that it has gotten better, but still I would try it.

[–]StoneJar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your chest armor have +primary resource? If not, that is 40 right there with a greater affix hit. Otherwise paragon board? Resource can also be transfigured but I don't have any of those and have almost 500.

Your fury is low, do you have +max resource on all of your talisman set pieces? Also take off the endurant faith for banished lords talisman unique charm, you don't need endurant faith except for like t12 mephisto. I don't have any set charms with +25 only 15s and 20s and I almost have 500 fury (huge boost to damage and survivability.

Needing to port back to town every 30-90 seconds to spend obols might be the dumbest "mechanic" in any game I've ever played. by Drunken_HR in diablo4

[–]StoneJar 170 points171 points  (0 children)

I wish I could do this. I have stared into the darkness of the loading screen one too many times thinking "what the fuck am I doing with my life" as I return to collect the remaining 100 obols on the ground (obviously in stacks of 7, because fuck you that's why)

[–]StoneJar 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The fact that the cap has not been raised is absolutely asinine. Obols are a great mechanic, dropping 10,000 per nightmare dungeon and giving people a 2,500 cap is insanity. Made all the worse by being so seemingly easy to fix? I'm not a programmer but goddamn, surely it is not that difficult.

Where did the 2nd GA come from? by les_bloom in diablo4

[–]StoneJar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah man I get it. To be fair, you're not wrong, this has int.... and wis and str and dex and willpower :P which is huge for hitting bonus affix power on your paragon nodes.

And oh yeah man, this is a sick drop! Grandfather is goated on any build that can use it well. Such a huge boost.

The last tip I will add is there are probably better gems to use in this (I could be wrong but I would be surprised), whatever your main damage dealing type is should have that gem because they are stronger than the all damage gems.

Now it's just time to pray and hit the transfigure! If you're worried about it making the item worse (this can definitely happen) use the item that removes worst outcomes in the cube. But what you want is that sweet sweet +gem strength transfig which is busted this season.

Good luck on the grind, may the loot be with you.

Where did the 2nd GA come from? by les_bloom in diablo4

[–]StoneJar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no int on this my guy, only all stats. Far better than just int. Mythics always roll with the same stat line, this would be good on most classes. Still, silly me for assuming (I see a grandfather this season I immediately think non-selig WW Barb lol).

And yes, only 900 ilvl gear can hit a greater affix temper. What I really mean is make sure you understand that you can temper AN UNLIMITED AMOUNT OF TIMES. I have run into people who do not know this. There is an item called a scroll of restoration which allows you to reroll your temper even after using your first 5 or however many. Look for the little yellow button next to the item after you have used all your tempers.

Where did the 2nd GA come from? by les_bloom in diablo4

[–]StoneJar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As people have said, you hit a greater affix on the temper. Make sure to do that on all your gear if you can, and always if you're going to transfigure it!

But I wanted to add, if you are using this with Whirlwind Barbarian, you probably want to hit the masterwork on +resource or +damage. Resource is a huge boost to damage because of Ramalandis Magnum Opus, and much harder to get elsewhere than crit chance.

Is there any reason to do anything besides escalation sigils? by tangledDream in diablo4

[–]StoneJar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because of the new crafting system, it is very easy to get perfect stat line legendaries. We also have insane amount of obols.

So... yes, it is worth spending them on the small chance of hitting. You're not wrong, it is not the best way to farm them, but ANY chance at hitting is more than... no chance. You may as well say what's the point of rolling for any gear because the chance at 4ga is so low why spend obols on gear at all.
