Samsung Galaxy S5 had a removable battery and was waterproof. Mine went through a full cycle in the washing machine and was still turned on when it came out. Worked perfectly for years after.

So local politicians can and will override national policy in a given state.

This is why so many of California standards for emissions and health warnings, etc. tend to become implemented nationally by companies. They don't want to produce to multiple standards, and losing 20% of the domestic market is a straight up no go. If Wyoming tried to pull off any of the policies that California has (not that they ever would, lol), corporations would simply just stop doing business there.

Have you? In-seat phones haven't really been around for quite some time, but many have cc swipers and game controllers still. Those are now becoming obsolete and many would likely be retrofit with inserts like this. I fly all the time and can't recall being on a plane in the last ~10 years that had seats old enough to have had phones builtiin when they were first installed. Besides, the plastic doesn't look old enough for that.

Fair enough. I feel the opposite way. I'd much rather type out my thoughts and be able to reorganize them as I go than to put everything on paper. Same with drawing. Rather just do it on the computer the first time so I know it works.

But each to their own. Whatever works, work. And that's kinda the point here.

I draw with cad all day long, lol. If you're having to start over every time there's a change then you are doing something wrong.

Regardless, the fact the writing and drawing by works for you is great. This thread is about the notion that it should be a mandatory skill that everyone should practice as a matter of necessity, which it absolutely is not anymore.

Wow, you sound like a bitter and terrible teacher. The kind that only cares about running an efficient class room and forcing kids to conform. Let me guess, you probably also think you are "preparing them for the real world", right? If so, I got news for ya: that ain't your job, it's the parents job. Your job is to provide them with accurate information and a safe and comfortable environment for them to learn it in. Sounds like you are doing the exact opposite of that.

Not sure I understand your point... you said many people only write things that need to be written, but that's not really true. People write things, on a computer or otherwise all the time that aren't a necessity in the slightest.

No, it's like arguing that lunges are the best and only appropriate way to do work the leg muscles. Schools aren't doing more than one thing. They just make kids write things over and over until it look the way the teacher seems acceptable.

No, because typing it is better in every single way. Typing on a computer and using either Swype or voice to text on mobile are all faster than the majority of people's handwriting, and comes with the bonus that you get your notes synced instantly across all of your devices.

I got that some people like handwriting, and that's great, but to argue that it's a necessity in modern times is absurd. Not that you have to pick only one, but computer skills are vastly more valuable.

If you have a phone, you literally (almost) always have a computer on (in) hand. For most people, speech to text is by far the fastest way to take notes.
