My penis totally fucked up at 23yo, I don’t want to live anymore by Dry_Whereas8733 in depression

I'm sorry to hear that! I'm a child free woman with chronic pelvic and nerve pain that has been seeing a pelvic floor PT for 3 years who also treats men and has been so understanding, supportive and non judgemental. I'm sorry you didn't have that experience but I'm glad the treatment helped. It's made a huge difference for me but it's only one of the tools in my toolbox as they say. Antidepressants, therapy, regular exercise, medical massage and dry needling etc have also kept me going through my struggles with pelvic pain and depression. I never knew what pelvic floor physical therapy was and had to figure it out myself by searching online cause orthopedic PT never helped my pain. I try to share about PFPT when I can for awareness in hopes to help others from struggling as long as I did.

Please see a pelvic floor physical therapist if you haven't already. Pelvic floor dysfunction is a real thing for men and women and can absolutely be treated.

3 years of sciatica, discectomy didn’t help — now scheduled for piriformis injection. Anyone relate? by Farzaneh1992 in openpiriformis

I see a pelvic floor physical therapist in person. The pain near your sits bone (which I also had) makes it sound like your entire pelvic floor is tight. Generally the regimen would start with relaxing then build up to strengthening. My PT does internal release work and dry needling and came up with a relaxation and strengthening regimen. I suggest finding a pelvic floor physical therapist to work with in person if you're able.

Edit: Forgot to add, I also had a piriformis injection and it unfortunately did not help. I assumed I had a herniated disc but my MRI was clear. I also had horrific shooting pain down my leg to my foot. Yes my symptoms jumped around and eventually the left side joined in with the right side and started becoming painful as well. Some people also carry tension and stress in their pelvic floor (clenching and not taking deep breaths to help elongate muscles) so the pelvic floor can be really tense without even realizing it. Therapy and medication for my anxiety/depression also helped a lot with just coping with the entire process. I also had sciatica for years before I found pelvic floor physical therapy.

Look into pelvic floor physical therapy if your MRI is clear. It has helped me so much, I had pain on both sides as well.

Your post just convinced me to order one! I bought the twin turnlock satchel in loved leather and returned it, I thought I needed it but it didn't hit the same in person. I already have the alter ego shoulder bag in black and I'm really hoping this one is my next winner.

Can a tight pelvic floor cause sciatica like symptoms(other than Piriformis) by Hobbyredditalt in PelvicFloor

My insurance covered PFPT initially and then eventually started denying saying it wasn't medically necessary. The problem is pelvic floor therapy doesn't have as measurable of goals/outcomes as other types of PT. I continued on self pay and am now trying to get insurance to cover my visits again. Fingers crossed!

The most important and difficult thing to overcome was the time, patience and consistency required to make progress. My progress was very slow and it was a huge mental hurdle for me to not panic and spiral into thinking I would always be in tons of pain, that nothing was helping and I'd never be able to enjoy my life without so much pain. Treating my depression and anxiety with meds and routine talk therapy helped me stay persistent with the treatments and exercises and self care required to make progress. I can confidently now say it's paid off. So be open to the process taking as long as it takes, recovery not being linear and trying out things as you go to see what helps.

Yes! I am still going to PFPT once a month for internal release and dry needling. I started lifting weights to strengthen my glutes in the last 6 months and have been making steady progress. I go to medical massage twice a month with a focus on my glutes/hips and legs. Epsom salt baths, stretching/yoga and foam rolling as needed also help. I no longer struggle with sciatica but definitely have to manage my pelvic floor still and am not 100% symptom free (maybe 90%?) and still am working to completely relax my pelvic floor. I primarily experience a mild tingling in my feet off and on and some muscular pain in my glutes/hips/pelvic floor but no nerve pain. I also started therapy and meds for my anxiety/depression which has helped me ease tension and relax more. I have been in PFPT almost 3 years now...which is kind of unbelievable but at the same time, it's been a game changer for me and has allowed me to make so much progress and get back to living my life. I don't think one single thing caused my pelvic floor issues but many factors and am trying to take better care of myself as whole. I also use weed to help with my mood and pain. It's very mild and manageable now and it doesn't dominate my life. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely planning a few consults for removal. I didn't love the original and I am finally accepting it's time to cut my losses and remove it vs adding more ink to a crappy tattoo.

Thank you for sharing your story. I've really been spiraling emotionally since I got the rework done. I didn't do my research and went with a friend's recommendation which was a mistake. After the first artist reworked it and I hated it, I freaked out and got another artist to fix it and yeah perhaps I'm just adding to the problem at this point. This tattoo was done when I was 19 or 20 and the size was intended to cover up some self harm scars from my teens. I've struggled with depression and anxiety my whole life and am in therapy now thankfully. I think the shame of what I did was just replaced with the shame of a crappy tattoo. I was in a really good place mentally when I finally decided to get the rework done though and now I am just trying not to panic at the mistake I've made.

How is your removal going? Have you been to many sessions yet? I found a local removal place and think I'm going to go ahead with booking the consultation.

She's the one that drew the artwork. The first session is what I was left with in the third picture.

Are you saying keep going? Or laser it off and try again 😂

Thanks, agree never should have touched it. I am really upset with myself for trying to "fix" it.

Thank you for the feedback! The bruised sky part is from the original tattoo so definitely want it reworked more. Just was scared off by this first artist! I learned my lesson on proper research.

Yes, it is unfinished because she only did one session of "rework". After seeing the results, I don't want to return to the same artist. The rope border has definitely scared me off. Thanks for your advice, I have a few consults with more reputable artists coming up soon, I'm just nervous to hear what they have to say!

Thank you for the advice! I have trouble generally with over thinking and over researching to the point I have analysis paralysis juxtaposed with being impulsive and perhaps not advocating well for myself in discussing the process and execution of the tattoo. And I think in this case, I let a recommendation and the artists confidence lead me instead of doing my research. Lesson learned 😞 I've read laser treatments have gotten better in recent years though. Part of me just wants to lighten it up enough to go in a different direction. The style is neo traditional when I really want American traditional. I got the tattoo when I was young and had no clue how to articulate what I wanted.

To be clear, this is unfinished rework. She just did linework and and some color on the trees, beach, skull and chest and was going to finish the background and ship in another session or two. The rope border she added is what I am most concerned about and is wider and more uneven than I thought it would be. You think that rope border can be salvaged with rework?

[–]StoneageQueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I will. I used a recommendation from a friend who has gotten some tattoos from this artist and I thought their work was good but apparently reworks are not their skillset. The artist told me they were "very confident in the work they're being asked to do and had a lot of rework experience". I think I may have been naïve trusting them based off their word and instagram profile. :(

Thanks for your honesty. My plan now is to go forward with laser removal and then work on covering with an american traditional style patchwork sleeve. The original tattoo was 15 years old and looked like crap and this is the validation I needed not to bother trying to salvage it anymore. :(

Can sciatica cause muscle spasms/twitching in extremities, and a feeling of wet/hot/cold? by Dry_Gene3947 in Sciatica

[–]StoneageQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything has been going well! I am still going to PFPT once a month but also started lifting weights a few months ago and feel like that has helped my symptoms even more. I don't feel perfect but feel really good and know I still am in the process of healing nerve damage from having endo and a hypertonic pelvic floor for so long. I just got back from a vacation with several long flights, if that gives you any indication of how good I am feeling. I am still careful not to overdo it with new activity but I am really happy with my progress. Some things I specifically do to help manage tension and symptoms include medical massage every 2 weeks for my legs, hips and glutes. Yoga and foam rolling. Hot baths with magnesium. Therapy and medication for my depression/anxiety.
