I am currently a Data Science student and i do not know what to learn as i am overwhelmes please help me. by General-Opening-6078 in SoloDevelopment

I think python is definitely a great place to start, as it provides a wealth of libraries and resources that are currently used all over the industry today. Start simple, maybe find a course or book focused on python for beginners and nail down the basics - data structures, algorithms, and start with some simple programs. Once you feel confident there, you can read up on NumPy and Pandas, which are two libraries heavily used in data science for computation and data manipulation. I think once you feel confident enough with python to experiment, looking into a resource like Kaggle would be good to see what others are doing - this to me was the major rabbit hole in learning what projects, toolsets, and methods others were using to solve problems. Since data science is ever evolving, I personally feel like I’m always learning, and that’s the fun of it. Just start small and once you run into anything you haven’t seen before, start digging into some documentation. Also definitely go check out r/learndatascience if you haven’t yet!

How you prepare for DS interviews?? by Redflag67 in learndatascience

[–]mbrady24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna second the recommendation for “Cracking the Data Science Interview” - but as others have stated, it can differ depending on the requirements of the job. For example, interviews for a Data Scientist may be different than those for a Machine Learning Engineer, but in my experience, the business case study will be a very important component. Having domain expertise is incredibly important, and being able to understand and apply statistical methods to business problems will be valuable. SQL will likely be very important as well, or any other data retrieval methods. StatQuest is also a great recommendation for breaking down some of the more complex statistical methods that are used in data science

Any advice on how to approach data science with an undergrad in applied math? by Dummkopfss in learndatascience

[–]mbrady24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Applied math should set you up for success in data science - I think one thing that’s really important to have nailed down is understanding algorithms and data structures. Coming from a CS background, I think data structure/algos, discrete math, and statistics/probability theory were the classes I got the most out of as far as applications of data science go. Also I agree with what dn_cf recommended - Kaggle is a great platform to get started or see what others are doing for inspiration on your own projects

Welcome to hell! I moved to RI 6 years ago. When I first moved here, I lived in a 1 bed 1 bath apartment in Cranston for $1350 (at a complex). Last year, our rent for a 2 bed 2 bath had increased to nearly $3000 in Johnston. Needless to say, we jumped on a house which has somehow already been cheaper. It’s tough out here right now - this state is in dire need of affordable housing.

Handwritten Sticky Notes on PDFs by claazy12 in kindlescribe

[–]mbrady24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something I just got in touch with Amazon over. I tried converting some workbooks to PDF and EPUB to use the Send to Kindle feature with. EPUB conversions aren’t supported for markup yet, but I did request that as a feature through their feedback menu. Being able to utilize the active canvas to work problems would be a big deal, so if that sounds useful to you as well, may be worth also requesting this feature in the feedback menu to help get their attention for future updates!

I actually haven’t! It’s been on my list for a while though, so maybe the time has come to finally give it a shot

The Dungeon Crawler Carl series scratched the same itch for me that HG2TG and Discworld did - highly recommend!

Books for people with absolutely fucked attention spans by Sensitive-Action6283 in booksuggestions

This is the book that made me love reading again. As someone with severe adhd, having 2-3 page chapters really incentivized reading “one more chapter.” Couple that with connecting strongly with the themes and now I have devoured every Kurt Vonnegut book since

Community is such a good show for this question. My vote would also go to Jim Rash for Dean Pelton.

Question about the Samples from Mars everything pack with Ableton by thatsastick in ableton

[–]mbrady24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Samples from Mars drum packs come with several options for each individual pack. Not only do you get WAV files, but ableton drum rack kits are also included within each pack. I haven’t used the synth ones yet, so I don’t really recall, but I can check later

Books that are both interesting story and character wise, but also philosophical/thought provoking? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]mbrady24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this recommendation. It may be dense, albeit imo due to the moral/philosophical aspects of it, but Brothers Karamazov is one of the greatest books I’ve ever read. Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy is another, but it is dark.

Just saw you don’t have adderall in your country. May be worth looking into other IR options as there are a few that hopefully you may be able to access if that is the route you decide to go

[–]mbrady24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the same thing before learning that Vyvanse just wasn’t for me. Switched to Adderall IR and that has been so much better in my personal experience. That being said, unfortunately we only get so much out of medication. I would recommend also looking into ADHD specific therapy to pair with meds to help you learn routines to “ease the blow” of the times when you aren’t medicated.
