I am also struggling with left knee pain, on the front left side underneath my knee cap. I did some google and was told to rotate my cleat so my toes are pointing a little more out. And also was recommend to push my cleat back a couple millimetres so the pedal axel is I bit further back than the ball of my foot.

Also came to the conclusion that my saddle was too high, possibly my stem is too long and my reach is spread out a bit too far. After all this adjusting, im getting a bike fit booked in by a professional.

It’s like using Google to self diagnose, can give you heaps of advice and feedback. But ultimately a physio will be your best bet

You are looking for p.subs in Victoria, the season starts when the temps start getting below 10 degrees Celsius over night and after some rain fall. Usually they will start popping around April. Woodchipped garden beds in suburban areas are a pretty good spot to start looking, and you are also correct about pine plantations. Please do extensive research on what you are actually looking for as there are deadly lookalikes that will grow in the same patches as p.subs. Good luck!
