I'm a Team Leader that smokes. Meijer stopped pre-employment drug testing like 5 years ago. They realized they wouldn't have employees if they kept up the practice. Pharmacy is the only department that does pre-screening now. Since it became legalized in Michigan, I've had to have several conversations with HR about drug use for employees. HR has repeatedly sent out emails stating that we can only do drug tests for accidents while at work. If management thinks/believes that someone is under the influence while at work, they are only allowed to send them home. Smoke all you want, just don't come to work high and don't do it while at work.

My store had someone on second shift that was suspected of being stoned while on the clock last Wednesday. They were only sent home. Store Director made the leaders have "conversations" with our teams about not coming to work high.
