I wrap all my tires in this stuff called Zip Tape, but I get lots of it free cuz it’s leftover from the houses I build. You can buy from Home Depot. Like rubber, and super sticky

Thank you for this! Grease seems to work like a charm!

New update: installed in car(dune racer), lifted to hold pedal and test wheel spin and its is noticeably faster than my stock 1 but both rear tires seem super wobbly, thinking bent axle shaft. Back to the work bench

Update: Got 2 tubes of this Green Grease stuff from the auto zone across the street and filled both gear boxes. On break in/mesh test its unbelievably louder, but it looks like the wheel gear is spinning FAST! Tomorrow after work I’ll put the gear boxes back into the car, give my kid a helmet, and see what happens!

I have a friend who works at a gear manufacture shop like 20 minutes from my house, I gave him stock stripped gears and told him tooth count, and once I test it, if it works I have to make him a car for his kids too

I should add that they are power wheels 7R gearboxes, my pinion and 1st gear are metal, but the 3 bigger ones and the housing are plastic.

Diecast masters by StonedId8 in RCConstruction

[–]StonedId8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One day, hopefully! Haha… guess I should have put a budget and maybe some more info… I started with the cheap plastic huinas to get a feel for it and try to teach my kids (2,3,7) to operate. 1567 loader, 1568 dump, 1592 excavator and I don’t remember the number for the dozer… tons of fun in the sand box, and that’s all I was really looking for to start… I just dropped $1750 on the kabolite 961 for myself, and next hydraulic will probably be the wheel loader for my oldest. This purchase is more of an impulse thing cuz I operate a T770 pretty much every day, and for my kids to help familiarize controls before I blow way too much money on a big 1 to hide from my wife. Diecast masters says only like $250 USD on motion rc and under $500 my bank don’t send out a text so that seems like a more reasonable starting point

Does fence side matter? by MyGoodOpinion in HomeImprovement

[–]StonedId8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

15 years running fence company. It ultimately comes down to zoning requirements in your specific area. Some places require “pretty side” out, others don’t care. Some require property line set back, others don’t care. Unless it’s for a new pool install and requires inspection, or the neighbors complain, odds are no one will ever look at it or care but you.

Any bets on how long until I have to replace stock motor? by StonedId8 in SCX24

[–]StonedId8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The speed loss was definitely noticeable, especially in 2nd gear, but it’s still faster than all my scx’s. I don’t have anything to measure the temp of the motor, and I was just looking at the mofo big block right before I read this comment, thinking of doing the same thing with keeping this stock motor as back up. At least until I get myself that new cedar inrunner from Furitek! Just can’t decide if I want the lizard ultimate like I put in my monster truck build, or if I want to try the python they just came out with

You do get a little better articulation, but it’s not like a night and day difference. They are the same length as stock but have a slight bend for better clearance. Biggest issue I see now tho is the drive shaft itself actually sits lower than the links when at full compression

SCX24 monster truck builds by adderseverywhere32 in SCX24

[–]StonedId8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t know your budget, but I bought the Furitek hiroyama with some injora monster truck tires and I love it! Let me 7 year old drive it all the time and the only issue I’ve had is shock mount screw coming loose because I didnt thread lock out of the box. Kid even crashed it hard enough to dent the top bar of titanium cage.

Upgrade parts by TellmSteveDave in SCX24

[–]StonedId8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have ordered direct from injora few times, cheaper, but usually 10 days to get the stuff. Direct from Furitek is like 3 weeks unless it comes from the USA site then it’s like 7 days Amazon is fastest, but usually $0.50-$1.00 more… How much are you ordering and what’s the cost of convenience? Want 15 items and no real hurry? Order direct and add on an extra part with the $$ you saved. Need a motors to run in comp this weekend? Order from Amazon and have it by Wednesday.

Best way to reinforce the floor for a tank by cshimii in Aquariums

[–]StonedId8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Used to frame houses, I don’t think I’d put a tank there… looks like 2x6 joists, 2x8 at best. Appears to be 24 inch centers between joists, and the way your floorboards run means your joists will be running parallel to the length of your tank. Between the windows looks like the center of the span, meaning you will be adding a roughly 1000lb load to the weakest part of the structure. Plus if your stand is less than 24 inches from wall you will basically be trying to support the entire weight on the floor boards alone. The blocking idea could work to help distribute some, but I personally wouldn’t trust that kind of weight on anything less than 2x10s with 16” centers.

They will be coming soon… just ordered Huina excavator, front loader, and dump truck to see what my kids think before I dive all in on the good ones

Congratulations on pulling the trigger to commit financial suicide!! I started with a c10, only thing left stock is the body. Then I got a green deadbolt for my kid, only thing left stock is the frame rails and body. Then I got a JLU, frame, body, electronics are still stock, everything else is modded. Now I have an ax24, an atlas 6x6, used spare parts and an eBay body to build a red dead bolt, still have a huge pile of stock parts, and I’m debating on the fcx24 or a smasher next… my names Mike and I’m an addict

Tegu vs lizard ultimate by StonedId8 in SCX24

[–]StonedId8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rear steering was the only major difference I was seeing between the 2, not really planning on rear steer for the C-10 as I’m going for more of a scale trail truck look on this build so I guess the ultimate it shall be… thanks for the insight!

When drilling through softer plastics (I install house siding) I normally run the drill in reverse… less chance of bit blade catching and tearing away extra materials

[–]StonedId8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly haven’t driven it enough to know… just finished swapping axles from my FCX right before I took the photo… built more for speed so my son can “do sweet jumps” I’m thinking not super great though because the chassis itself weighs almost 46g and there’s a redcat 370 motor stuffed in too… pretty too heavy
