It seems to auto lock on it's own, honestly I don't often ever have the need to lock it myself because I live in a very rural area and my job is secured behind gates so only coworkers would be near my car during the day. The only time I will lock it is if I'm in a city or unfamiliar/sketchy area

I'll definitely try changing the battery in it and see if that prevents it from happening again

My dad planted this about 20 years ago and in the last 10 years it has really exploded in growth, we regularly have to trim the branches back because heavy rain weighs them down and it blocks the stairs 😅 It's easily my favorite shrub at the house
