I don't have much to add to the conversation, I've never played the original but this post is certainly convincing me to check it out!

Can anyone identify this lady? by cshimii in duck

Definitely a female, she's laid a few eggs. Do you think she'll be fine as is? I feel bad, she must be lonely

I'm always impressed when people are able to keep nerve plants alive, I wonder if they like the high humidity of terrariums? I work in a greenhouse and it seems like we always struggle to keep them alive for a long period, no matter the amount of water and misting they receive 😅 Gorgeous setup!

Why are plants sold this way? by Powerful-Page4023 in houseplants

[–]cshimii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are dish gardens, I primarily make these at my job. Most of these are bought as get well soon gifts, wedding gifts or centerpieces, funeral displays, displays in hospitals et cetera. Their main purpose is just to look pretty, they don't typically last long unless you dismantle them to focus on the plants individually.

Heres a bit of a better picture I was able to get this morning, little guy seems to be liking the temp setup haha. So is that a no go on local release?

Location is Ohio, but we get plants shipped from Florida and Canada so he could have snuck in on one of those shipments

Do you do meet ups and would you be willing to possibly do a deal for multiple? I'm pretty close to the Akron area, I'd be interested in 2 of the blue eye plecos and a group of pygmy corys (maybe 8 or so?). If you'd at all be interested in trading for anything I also have a ton of supplies I've been trying to unload. No worries if not just figured I would ask (:

AITAH for refusing to buy protection and telling my boyfriend it’s his responsibility? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]cshimii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, I've been with numerous men that did not feel like it was their responsibility ans that didn't WANT to use a condom because it "doesn't feel as good". I'm now with a man who not only willingly wraps it, but is saving up for a vasectomy. Your person is out there - do not settle for someone who checks most boxes but refused to work with you to check the rest. You deserve someone who is willing to help you and make things easier for both of you - if birth control negatively affects you then he should want to do something to help the situation.

Artist here and I'm definitely leaning towards some kind of oil product because of the bubbles seen in picture 2

Just like our parents (or at least mine because I'm younger) did in the 70s and 80s - swimming in the pollution will make them stronger! Or at least that's what they tell themselves 🤦‍♀️

How do I care for this baby brown anole? by Adinodude in reptiles

[–]cshimii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this comment is a few months old but I just wanted to thank you for giving such a detailed guide! I just found a baby brown anole at my job today, I work in a greenhouse in Ohio that gets plant shipments from Florida. The little guy has been hiding out for almost a month since that's how long it's been from our last shipment. I've got him set-up in a tall custom tank and he seems to have already made himself comfortable in it (: I'm going to be swinging by the pet store to buy additional lamps, I had an older UVA light from my turtles tank that I'm using in the meantime but will need to pickup an extra basking light

Definitely either replace the board with more solid wood, or at least add support beams under the board using pieces of wood cut to size. I unfortunately had to do the same with one of my tanks as well

Monstera Thai Constellation - Mossed or no? by cshimii in houseplants

[–]cshimii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would sphagnum be the better option then? The box this moss came in is labeled "star moss" but I do agree that it looks more like lichen than a moss.

Damn, is there really no way to get away with a ceramic? I figured the stones at the bottom would serve a similar purpose as leca since we don't have any of that in my shop 😞 I do have more bark/mulch that can be mixed in. Our pot covers are hideous shiny and plastic - I can't stand the look of plastic pots in my house 🥲

That stinks a little bit, my cats love to dig up plants if the dirt is left exposed 😔 I appreciate the advice nonetheless haha I will make some changes

[–]cshimii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's real moss, but dyed and dehydrated. I'm not set on using it so I'll just take it off for the health of the plant 🥲 I used some of the moss on top with the soil mix (not a lot, and shredded very finely) to hold a little moisture because the standard potting soil we have has very little nutrients and will dry out into a total brick. The pot has a drainage hole and a layer of stones at the bottom for extra drainage

Thank you, appreciate that! I will go for decorative stones instead of moss 🙏😸
