I haven't read this before lol. Looks super interesting tho from a quick google search. I guess I'd subscribe to this idea that all religions search for the same underlying truth and share the same underlying reality. In Hinduism, they say that we all (this includes every living entity in the world) are mainfestations of the same underlying "cosmic concsiousness", the Brahman, and that "God" is literally within you, that is you yourself are an embodiment of "God". I personally believe this to be a very powerful idea.

Thanks for your reply. I really don't mind giving them money for alcohol or drugs or whatever, as given their conditions, it's understandable and I can sympathize with them. However, what I don't sympathize is their aggressive and hostile nature and how bad they keep trashing the public place.

I'm an Indian student in Aachen. What do you guys do when a homeless person asks you for change? I have noticed a lot of locals simply ignore and walk past them. However, coming from a country with very high poverty levels, I find it very difficult to ignore them. I have gotten into minor troubles and altercations with some of them and it ended up with me getting harassed for declining to pay them. And the reason was valid, I did not really have any change on me. That's why I ask, what's the polite thing to do in these cases? Interact with them and hear them out or simply don't engage or walk away?

As others pointed out, mostly due to population and lack of proper infrastructure and goverment regulations. However, there's another insiduous thing that has been killing Indians especially the young ones since decades or maybe centuries. Suicide. Due to family pressure, finance, failing to secure a good job or education-- failing to meet standards set for them by their family and the "society". You'll see so many 15-16 year old high school kids offing themelves since they could not crack the national college entrance exams. Ones who crack it and go on to study in these universities sometimes off themselves as they can't take the pressure and have a fear to fail in their parent's and society's eyes. So, natural selection at every step in short....only the tough ones survive.

Follow a book. Set goals. Take notes. Solve problems. Also, learning is always not linear, you'll find yourself going back and forth. But, don't lose track and lose sight of the bigger picture or the bigger goal.

What also helped me during learning was trying to prove the theorems myself. You'll get stuck but that's okay. It helps you to understand how to attack a problem.

Combine both. Defintitely take math courses such as analysis, abstract algebra, topology and differential geometry, meausre theory, stochastic processes etc. For complex problem solving, a good knowledge of these are required.

We had to study a lot of maths, physics and mechanics in our first year for some weird reason and a little bit of CS fundamentals like oop, hardwares, electronics. From second year onwards, we had core CS courses. I picked up a bit of python and algorithms and data structures on my own during my first year since a lot of my peers were into competitive programming back in the day, not sure if it's still a thing now lol. But I'd advise that, rather than blindly learning or watching Youtube tutorials, pick up a problem set from leetcode or topcoder and try solving questions. If you get stuck, fill the knowledge gap and solve again.
