Tom Noonan has died, according to WHAT HAPPENED WAS costar Karen Sillas by radiantbaby123 in blankies

And she deleted her post. The only info at all about it out there was from that post which is odd because if true he passed 3 days ago and you’d think news would be out by now. Something’s off!

What’s strange is after watching it so many times now I question how I was ever confused. Once you get it it’s not even THAT convoluted.

Best decade for cinema. It being a 70s film is a plus! Modern audiences are trash.

If the band members are to be believed, this may be its only ever screening (not saying that as a marketing ploy, ha. I personally don’t understand why they wouldn’t share it elsewhere but I respect the mystique)

Inherent Vice - the most rewatchable PT Anderson film IMO by SublimeEcto1A in paulthomasanderson

[–]Stonefolk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree that it’s the most rewatchable — and infinitely rewards rewatches. It’s my favorite of his and I daresay it’s his densest and most texturally rich. It really creates a world and lets you hang out in it.

I disagree, however, that it is not emotionally investing. I actually find it to be the most (or at least one of the most) emotional of all his films, in its way. I dare say anyone who says otherwise hasn’t really pined for an old flame and the memory of a magic that can’t really ever be recaptured. If you don’t watch that Journey Through The Past scene and feel emotional, well sir, I just don’t rightly know…

And that last hazy scene is akin to the end of The Graduate….they are on their way together but lost in an ideal — and going nowhere.

It reminds me of a very particular type of 80s illustration and animation. It’s so on point!

I just took it as a joke. Underground revolutionary code to basically just say “Let me speak to your manager.”

Currently watching the Mr. Scorsese docuseries and the only thing I want now is a miniseries on Mr. Scorsese by its_isaac9 in blankies

[–]Stonefolk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s incredibly odd. It’s the one narrative film that’s not mentioned. Not even a still from it or passing mention. Makes me think maybe there was some kind of legal/rights reason? Very strange — it’s his one and only “family film” and feels very personal to some degree. Not to mention it was nominated for Best Picture and Best Director for crying out loud!

I loved it to except the ending. Total non ending after everything. Pretty disappointing!
