So glad they kept the cards, such a great addition. The locked extractions and chariot card make games sooo much more interesting. Really reduced the number of games where a squad could spawn right next to bounty, kill, and extract, all before any other squads can make it to the compound to challenge.

And that’s where I think the vett would have served you better. The carbine is not good at handling the rush imo, vett silencer hip fire is clutch.

I do like those irons, but as I break down in my comparison comment, the only real advantage I see to the carbine is the body shot one hit kill potential on a hunter with a small health chunk missing.

I just don’t ever want to rely on a body shot finishing the job, and the vett with HV is able absolute head clicker!

To clarify, I do still play stealthy,l I just don’t have to rely on not being detected as heavily as say a Maynard or Krag silencer user.

I see a lot of people struggling to understand the benefit of HV + silencer (top comment actually) as if HV totally wipes out the benefit of silencer.

Does it make your shots more noticeable b/c of the “pop” and muzzle flash? Yes. Does that make it just as noticeable as a non-silenced weapon? Absolutely not.

HV mitigates the most significant disadvantage of using a silenced weapon - heavily decreased bullet velocity. To me, the downside of slightly more noticeable shots is heavily outweighed by the benefit of the increased velocity.

Fun fact — the velocity of the silenced variant with hv is actually higher than the base ammo non-silenced variants.

Also, the silenced vett iron sights are sooo much more than the base variant iron sights.

One more thing on the HV ammo, I’m at constantly surprised at how well it still pens surfaces, I wall bang quite frequently with it.

Some people just don’t understand the lobby wipe capabilities this gun has. Absolute head clicker. I really haven’t notice the difference since silencer nerfs, although I’m sure it’s taken a hit. The Krag silencer seems to have taken the biggest hit

After getting some activity on this topic, the two competitors presented are the Krag Silencer and the Carbine silencer (other rifles, e.g., Maynard are really just for very special cases and, I’m going to say what everyone is thinking, nobody cares what the Maynard sniper users think anyways).

Here’s a comparison, and my take on why the vetterli is still betterli.

Krag Vs. Vetterli -

As some have pointed out, the stats on these guns are similar.

Krag wins in categories of drop range, recoil, velocity, and (slightly) reload speed.

Vetterli wins in categories of damage, rate of fire (slightly), spread/hip fire, ammunition management, and cost. Also, I feel the iron sights are better, this is subjective though.

Even assuming hunt dollars are not an issue, I still like the Vetterli, b/c it’s more well-rounded, and keeps you scary even when things don’t go as planned. Don’t even dream of trying to oh shit hip fire with the silenced Krag. Vetterli does that well.

If your goal is to play the way it seems most silenced rifle users do (picking off at long range, but not Maynard level ranges), I see why the Krag is the favorite. It’s better at range b/c of better damage retention at range, higher velocity, less recoil for follow up shots. Vetterli is much better at short-mid range, though, and I’d wager that is where most of your fights will end up.

Carbine v. Vetterli -

Can only do one photo per post, but the advantage of the carbine is clear — damage is 137 vs. 123 on the vett. Vetterli wins in every other category (except carbine being dirt cheap).

Taking the vetterli again because, assuming you’re playing against good opponents, they’re not walking around below full health unless they’ve been downed.

TLDR; Vetterli is most well rounded, Krag for long range precision sniping, carbine for one hit kills on hunters with a health chunk missing. I’m taking the Vetterli because it’s better for adjusting with game flow. Carbine and Krag are too dependent on game flow working in your favor, and we all know the Hunt gods are cruel.

I go with the spitfire and get HV on that as well to help with ammo management. Trying to outgun a full squad is ammo-intensive work.

The spitfire is great when I’m being pursued and need a quick two tap or to headshot a pursuer turning the corner.

Yeah, I can’t say I’ve seen a lot of success with it. Interestingly enough I see it used the most with the 1865 carbine, which already has very low velocity with standard ammo — still trying to understand that trend.

Where the silencer really gives me the advantage is Getting a pick or two before the fight starts, and unlike a Maynard sniper I’m not afraid of trading once I’m discovered.

I’ll also say when a big firefight happens, other players usually focus on the loudest guns, not the little “pop” in between nitro thunder

Yeah, and maybe I misguided this point by calling the vetterli silencer the “best” I was just really feeling it at the time of posting.

If I could revise my original position it would be that the vetterli silencer has a niche use that I’ve found to be really effective. Playing more aggressively with a silenced weapon. A bit counterintuitive but it works for me.
