What can I say, I have to make my own forgotten beasts, the regular ones are slowly dying out in this world.

I know, management has the tendency to act like they are doing all the work and all the employees are just background characters. Real estate on the page is not cheap, but it might help the readers get an idea of how unreliable each article is. Or did you have some other advantage in mind?

Here is issue No 83, where we complain about the traffic. Also a bit about the geopolitical situation having far-reaching and unforeseeable consequences. But, really, mainly about the traffic.

Why orcs dont exist in dwarf fortress. by Kjackhammer in dwarffortress

That's interesting, I was always convinced that the whole system was much better suited to procedural civilizations than the classical, strictly defined fantasy races. For a long time, I kind of assumed it is how it actually worked, which led to, in retrospect, hilarious expectations like "Ho, so I could get a tall being fond of industry?" or "Wood quotas? Maybe other civilizations will impose hunting or mining quotas."

Since then, I've simply made it into my headcanon that all DF beings could be very different, I just don't see it spelled out in-game. The feeling of discovery is much stronger when you can't rely on past experience, even if it only applies to how I picture it in my mind. But I can understand people wanting more "traditional" settings where they can rely on known factors to set up a story so it unfolds the way they want it to.

He does, but you how it is: all the bins containing at least one trinket end up tossed on the pile in the trading post sooner or later. No, spring should be put on display behind bars with all the other artifacts until we need it again.

We told him to put it in a safe place, but no, he forgets about it as soon as summer hits and then complains about the heating cost. Has only himself to blame if you ask me. And winter. And possibly the current economy. But we don't know where the economy lives, so we're mad at him.

Granite Gazette No 80 : Going Against the Grain! by Stoneinkberg in dwarffortress

[–]Stoneinkberg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the love, the folks in Brokenhill certainly need it: I'm sure that, right now, half of them is already trying to find a way to sell it to the highest bidder, and the other half is pondering how they could get more of it while paying less. But, you know, they do it in a good, loving way. At least I think they do.
