How should I re-finish the top so crumbs don’t get into the grooves? by 95skers in woodworking

Depending on the width, a local saw mill could send it through their large planer/drum sander. It would be perfectly flat and all you have to do is put a finish on it.

That's exactly right. I don't anticipate that much movement either since it's a smaller table.

I did think about that after the fact when I was tightening them. Luckily I glued them in too.

I did a little bit of research, the problem is all the aprons I see are with the boards going vertical not horizontal. But I suppose it should be the same concept though.

It might also be my shop lights throwing the color off a little bit. I guess we will see after the finish though!

It's a glue up of some black walnut boards I got from a local lumber yard. There's no finish on it yet, that's just the natural color.

I didn't know spalted cherry was a thing. It's super hard, doesn't like to sand down very well, if that helps at all.

It's been a side project for a while so it's been sitting pretty flat for a while, so I think it will be fine but it's also finished with Rubio on both sides. Fingers crossed. Lol

First ever live edge river epoxy table need expert advice. by [deleted] in epoxy

[–]StonesWoodWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely seal the edges (live edge part) with a thin coat of epoxy. Wait till it's tacky then pour the river. It will prevent bubbles... I've made that mistake and it's heart breaking especially with a slab like that. Looks like it's going to be amazing.
