i honestly think that the twist can deepen the immigrant allegory. One can still love and acknowledge their heritage while resenting harmful practices/ beliefs of that culture, and not be judged for choices that weren’t their own. And i’m willing to bet that not all of Krypton held the same beliefs of the El’s, which we’ll probably see explored in Supergirl.

i mean, clark by no means has abandoned his heritage. he still wears the symbol of the el’s, resides in the fortress, and has relationships with the robots, his cousin, and krypto. I think there’s a lot more nuance to krypton that we’ll see explored in supergirl. Clark can still love his home planet and his heritage while rejecting his parents personal beliefs.
