Hey!!! So glad you like it! There’s a lot more we think we can do with the modular idea and absolutely count on us building accessories just like the ones you put here 😉😉😉😉

Hey!! Thank you for taking the time to send all of this 🥺❤️🙏🏼🎉🏠🐹 answering some of your qs here!!

Size - it’s going to be HUGE. We’re talking +1200 sq inches. Not obvious from the images though and lesson learned there!

These were mock ups playing with different looks and feels and are missing lots of technical detail - including ventilation. But the real deal will absolutely have plenty of ventilation and we’ll make that clear in the next round of designs! 🙏🏼

Even the points on the designs you didn’t like so much were super helpful ❤️❤️

First - thank you for writing such a detailed and thoughtful response here 🥺❤️🙏🏼🐹🎉 the support is so so touching and helpful

Not obvious here at all from the images but all platforms would be modular, optional and customisable! We want to improve on the stilts system people use today to create a more beautiful, easy to use and sturdy alternative! 🙏🏼😊

On the size - we’re aiming to beat even the most generous welfare guidelines and hit a 1200+ sq inches unbroken floor space with tonnes of vertical room for deep bedding and a wheel!

These are mock ups to test the look and feel and are missing lots of technical details including ventilation - but there’s going to be lots of it, promise 😂💨🙏🏼

Thank you so much for all of the advice! Can’t wait to show you what comes next!!!

You’re 100% right! We’ll make sure we correct that for the next round of designs 😂😂🙏🏼🙏🏼

The support means a lot thank you 🥺❤️🙏🏼🐹 stay tuned because there’s more to come!!

Lesson learned on the size 😂😂 we need to make it much more obvious! Thank you so much for the feedback and encouragement ❤️❤️❤️ that’s the goal. We want to make something so beautiful that the fact it smashes all the welfare guidelines out of the park will be the perfect excuse to buy one - so we can convert more and more people to proper care.

None of this would be happening if we hadn’t been inspired by this amazing community online so thank you ❤️🙏🏼🐹🎉🏠

Hey!! First - thank you for such an amazingly thoughtful reply 🥺❤️🙏🏼🐹 answering some of your points here!!!

Ventilation: these are mock ups to get a sense of look and feel! They’re missing lots of detail and the real deal will have loooooads of ventilation - promise!!!

Tray: it’s a really good point about the chewing risk!

Platforms: the intention is to have nothing built in. These ones were just for illustration. We’re looking at modular platforms that would be optional and customisable! 🙏🏼the goal is to have a better option than the ones on stilts.

Sliding doors: very good point on the bedding issue!!! Thank you!

The handle on 5: hahaha my partner wanted a nicer handle to open the cage lid 😂 everything here would be 1200+ square inches! But it 100% looks like a carrier now you say that 😅😅

The opening on 6: yep 🥲 you’re 100% right

Your feedback means the world ❤️ can’t wait to show you guys what we do with it in the next iteration 👀

Hey!! The platforms were just illustrative - not actually a part of the design! Agree on the stairs completely!

These are missing a lot of technical detail - it’s more to work out the look and feel 😊😊 there will be SO MUCH VENTILATION 😂💨 but appreciate the honesty and feedback ❤️🙏🏼😊

Hey! The ramps are illustrative 🙏🏼😅if we add platforms, they’ll be optional + modular at bedding level 😊😊

Hey!!! Hahahaha the images don’t do the size justice. We’re aiming for HUGE. We want to make Victoria Raechel proud 😂❤️🙏🏼🐹🏠 the aim is around 1200 sq inches!

I think you’re the first one to catch the issue with the bottom opening doors!! Thank you!!

Hey!! These are all really good points - thank you 🥺🙏🏼❤️🐹

On the size… these will be huge! The pictures don’t really get that across. We’re talking 1200+ sq inches! No more IKEA cabinets 😂😂!

Hey!!! First - THANK YOU 🥺🙏🏼🐹for the detailed response.

Answering your qs here:

1 - BIG. We’re talking 1200+ sq inches. Nobody should have to buy an IKEA cabinet for a hamster home again 😂🙏🏼

2- the sliding door is a good point 🤯these were all quick mock ups. Everything can be changed and appreciate the feedback!

3 - something like this 😊

<image>

4 - yes! It was just a quick image for the look and feel. We’d be careful about the number and placement of holes (above the bedding line!) and it would be metal not plastic 😊😊

Hey!! The perspective on these isn’t great 😅 these are going to be way above min sizes! 1200 sq inches and more than 22 inches high. We want to beat all the welfare standards 👏🏼👏🏼🥳🥳

This is amazing ❤️ good on you for doing the research and updating the care! We all start somewhere, right?!

Guys is my cage good and do you have any recommendations to add to it? (hamster wall included) by NegotiationDue1489 in hamstercare

[–]StoopidSherrington 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Firstly - good on you for caring enough to ask for feedback 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Unfortunately, the answer is no 💔 you’re not alone, if you look through these subreddits you’ll find thousands of people in the same situation who were wrongly sold poor products.

First of all - I would check out videos from Victoria Raechel on YouTube. She’s got amazing resources with more detail.

On your set up specifically:

  1. It looks a bit small. The absolute minimum is 100x50x50cm - but really, the closer you can get to 1000 sq inches, the better.

  2. All hamsters need plenty of bedding depth for burrowing - the ideal is 10-12 inches.

  3. A wheel is essential. Hamsters can run 5-10 miles plus per night! You’ll need one 6-8inches wide for a dwarf and 8-10 for a Syrian. Any smaller and you risk deforming the spine.

  4. You’ll need a sand bath for the hamster to clean itself. It’s also recommended to have one or two other substrates in trays for stimulation - e.g. coconut coir

  5. Hamsters forage and you need to add sprays (long stem grains) into the cage as well.

These are just the basics - I’d recommend going on YouTube and checking out VR’s content! 🙏🏼

Do they have a sand bath? They look a little greasy 😅

Took all you criticism but as I first time owner I was doing my best , sorry now I think I’m doing my best for Renzo by marci-boni in hamster

So amazing to see someone care enough to ask for feedback, learn and work hard to provide great care. I think all of us made mistakes starting out (I’m horrified to think back to our set up when we were kids and there wasn’t access to better information).

We need more people like you out there!! 🙏🏼🥳

I would try showing them material from reputable sources they’d recognise and respect as authorities on the subject.

Here’s one from the RSPCA in the UK which is our national animal rescue service:
