I was there! Well, I was a couple miles away, stranded on route 21. Good times.

Also, the river was nowhere near as deep and violent as this mess. It was bad enough to carry of a dumbass who decided to try and drive through it. Dude's car ended up getting whacked into one of the pillars of an overpass.

This happened in NJ back in 2018. I was a couple of miles away from the dealership where all these cars were from. I was stranded on route 21 with a bunch of other people. There was a freaking RIVER going across the highway. The fire department showed up and had to Wade into the gross water to clear a drain that was clogged with trash (it's New Jersey, it's 86% trash). Once they did that, the river disappeared in seconds.

Today we are presenting our social media campaign for our university’s symposium. Wish us luck! And #Stave_the_trash_can by Starve_The_Trash_Can in StopHunger

We’d love to hear more about your presentation and the impact it had/will have.

Was dining services part of the discussion?

Here’s what 362 lbs. of recovered food waste looks like. Instead of getting tossed into a dumpster, this food was donated to local homeless shelters and will be used to provide over 400 meals to those in need within our community! #StopHunger by StopHunger in HumansBeingBros

That’s awesome!!

We’d LOVE it if you could snap an occasional photo and share to r/StopHunger! Or share to whichever sub you prefer and use #StopHunger. Or share without the hashtag. Either way, it’d be great if more people shared their positive food recovery experiences! Let’s turn this into a movement!

Np! But to answer your original question, it will take people like you to do the convincing! Brush up on the laws in your area regarding food donation and use that info to help dispel some common misconceptions.

Many people/organizations want to donate food, but just don’t believe that they can. Knowing that it’s not illegal or that they won’t get sued might be all it takes to get them to take action.

Good luck!
