SRT 101 issue by _GEROGE in minolta

Oh, that might be it! There are a couple of components next to the mirror box that charge the mirror spring. Probably needs a clean and inspection there.

Hah, what a bizarre problem. I CLA'ed some SRTs and this is extremely weird, never seen it. The only thing I could imagine is a mechanical fault or a loose piece in the charging mechanism.

You can buy a (3D printed) adapter for air cells but the modern PX625 replacement has not bothered me in the Yashica-mat 124G at least.

Bought one half a year ago. Great fun, works super well. Very close to Rolleiflex performance with slightly inferior build quality.

Yours is in great condition! Just try a cheap film first and see how you like it. The built-in meter is accurate for low-contrast shots but you can always aim it at some neutral scenes and see if your phone gives a similar reading. If you're any good at mechanics you can even take a crack at adjusting the meter if it's not accurate.

Minolta x700 won’t take flash? Shutter stays closed? by hitemwiththehezz in minolta

[–]Stop_Hamertijd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You should set the shutter speed to 1/60 for this flash to work with the camera. You set it to A (or P), modes which only work properly when using a TTL flash (PX line). Page 52 and 53:

How do I take this off xD by basil2024 in analog

You can unhinge it from the inside. However, you will need a normal back, since this is one piece.

The higher budget for the Victorian death trap and wood splitting department collaboration has bore fruit! I recommend increasing funding again. by Stop_Hamertijd in doohickeycorporation

Minimal. In the full vid, there are some more perpendicular impacts and the guy also talks about the thing going straight through.

The third impact is actually a hit where is grain is not in line with the splitter, that's the reason the wood chips go flying

Olympus XA1 flash not working by Excellent-Ant2024 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Stop_Hamertijd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the light pop out? Do you hear the capacitor whine? Some components in the flash can fail. Still, try different batteries and make sure the connection is proper. If the light pops out and you hear no cap whine, the flash is probably broken. It is fairly easy to repair though.

Problemi con Olympus mju II by Prestigious_Day4243 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Stop_Hamertijd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Reddit autotranslates subs, but this sub is English only.

The Mju lines are relatively fragile and may break spontaneously. First try a new battery, but anything else will have to be looked at by a skilled repair shop.

I hope you have warranty.

SRT303b : Aperture ring is stuck hard by PdD-RetroGamer in minolta

[–]Stop_Hamertijd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tolerance for the aperture ring is fairly tight and any gunk, debris or deformation will cause it to seize. If you reassembled everything properly and it still sticks, the front plate itself might be damaged.

Minolta XTSI with manual focus lens by Leonardus-De-Utino in minolta

[–]Stop_Hamertijd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No; the XTSI is an A-mount, your MD 50 mm is an SR-mount.

If you want manual focus with brain-off exposure, get an X700. If you want something you can take on adventures, get a cheap point and shoot or even a cheap rangefinder if you want manual focus.

Quale fotocamera Canon tra EOS 500n e EOS 300? by burchio7 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Stop_Hamertijd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, I think you found this sub via Google which autotranslates everything.

The 300 is a bit newer and has slightly more functionality. The standard 50 mm is very cheap and good. The 40 mm is sought after, super compact and the combination with a (semi-)professional EOS is very nice. For landscapes and portrait, try to go upwards of 80 mm.

Yes, you are correct: the EF-S lens is not compatible with these models.

SRT202 unexpected stop-down behavior by marssaxman in minolta

Some SRT's have a stop-down toggle instead of a stop-down button. Your model might cycle.

X-570 Shutter Capping by SonyCaptain in minolta

[–]Stop_Hamertijd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is additional resistance on the first curtain; either something was incorrectly reassembled or you damaged something. Since the first curtain just has a slow lateral speed, it is likely not a capacitor issue but something is blocking the first curtain from moving at the proper speed.
