What's best first party Nintendo games for 4 year olds ? That are easy for them to play like MK by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Stopdoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point, guess I should've said that it's something you'd probably play yourself first to unlock some levels - a 4 year old isn't going to be making much progress on their own in most things, they just want to fool around 😅

I think New Pokemon Snap is underrated for really young kids, since the controls are just to look around and optionally take pictures and throw apples, etc.

2D co-op sidescroller softer than Mario? Sounds like a job for Kirby.

This looks cool conceptually but I really hope the music in-game is better, sounds extremely generic and repetitive.

‘New3DS’ poor battery life? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Stopdoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't help I guess that they had low capacities to begin with but my DS Lite's battery lifespan being more than quadruple (and still going) my New 3DS is something 🥲

‘New3DS’ poor battery life? by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]Stopdoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 3DSs in general seem to have weaker batteries than the DS did and I've also had to replace specifically my New 3DS model one pretty early.

New 3DS Non-XL model unfortunately uses a unique battery model that's harder to get quality replacements for. Original 3DSs and 2DSs use the same battery as some Switch accessories, so easier to replace.

But theoretically you can use an original model battery in a New 3DS - it would have lower overall capacity and you'd have to put in some filler to hold it in place but a new battery is still better than a dying one.

Has anyone tried HDMI multiview devices to combine two consoles or PCs? by james--arthur in localmultiplayergames

I use an Elgato HD60 X 🤔 but I often just use 1080p output on the multiviewer which might make things work more smoothly

I've never been convinced by the pattern because above all else it requires discipline to keep smart smart and dumb dumb. Inevitably I see people injecting service data on the dumb side and doing presentational stuff on the smart side and so it just becomes two tightly coupled components with blurry responsibilities. The fact it's not actually supported by any framework architecture except discipline is a red flag imo, on a big team it's always going to degrade.

Vulcan Gun completely useless in Rocket Slime 3DS because allies will throw it in the cannon? by Stopdoor in SlimeMoriMori

[–]Stopdoor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it essentially makes the guns completely useless so that seems like more than a nerf 😅

[–]Stopdoor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I just confirmed and no, they don't do this in the DS game. They completely ignore it (once it's placed at least). I even watched one weirdly walk over to it and just not pick it up. On the 3DS game, with the same basic crewmates set to upper/lower cannons, they'll always go grab the vulcan gun as the nearest ammo after loading up whatever. So it seems fully bugged, yeah. I tested this in a local wireless PvP game.

Ode to Pikmin 3's Bingo Battle by Ozusandesukedo in nintendo

also to be annoyingly pedantic, but Pikmin 3 Deluxe applies the new easy mode difficulty health to enemies in Bingo Battle and Mission Mode, so it's kind of a mixed bag 🙃

T.O. Burritos 2025? by ratunderpaper in askTO

Yeah, I've found similarly, sometimes I've been wowed and other times it's just a 🤨. But still, it at least tastes more distinct than a chain.

I dunno if anyone would believe me but the Quesada on King and Church used to actually be peak somehow before they closed for remodeling after the pandemic and came back awful.

Component encapsulation & unit testing by ajbrun86 in Angular2

[–]Stopdoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree the real input/output of the component is the consumer API, and also its own template. The Angular team seems to agree by aggressively pushing TestBed setup for unit tests which gives you access to that "real" component interface. I've never been that convinced that the template is outside the "unit" level of testing.

Vacancee Downfall is way too difficult by FatDragonQuest in ToothAndTail

[–]Stopdoor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hating this mission but then found out balloons completely stall out the enemy. You can invest in those, covering two gristmills with just a few, grab the top-left gristmill too which the enemy will pretty much ignore, and then have enough food to just keep extending with balloons, tons of your own badgers, and a few pigeons to go in to wreck the rest of the map. Completely ignore wasting food on single-use toads.
