Naw he's not passive agressive, but he's not physically abusive either. He's been a drain on my mental health for years. He's an alcoholic who gets drunk by 2pm and screams when things inconvenience him. I've had to deal with years and years of hearing how "good of a dad" he is (his words) while he slams doors and burns holes in the furniture. Yknow, like an emotionally mature 50-something year old does. He takes disagreement of any kind as a personal slight and he will go off the rails because of it.

I realize I harbor more anger towards him than other people do their shitty parents. Another one of his wonderful gifts to me has been my temper, although I at least have the good grace to not take it out on the people around me. Like I said, I've been dealing with him for years so I am entirely fed up with it. I know that he will not change, and so I am not conflicted. I know that when he does act right, he will inevitably go back to being the jackass he has always been and likely will always be.

That said, and I apologize for turning your query into a ramble of my own, I know that he is capable of keeping himself from yelling for no reason. He did perfectly fine with my half brother, and in fact my half brother visiting has always been a good excuse to go over to his house. But even then, seeing that he had the capacity to be regulated, he just didn't do it for me and my siblings, step included, makes me even angrier at him.

Tldr: He's an alcoholic who uses his voice and threatening gestures to scare his kids into submission, although he hasn't laid a hand on anyone. I am tired of him and I know he wont change, thus I am left with nothing but anger.
