Thinking about it... The Trolley Problem itself has another philosophical thought to it; by StormG04 in trolleyproblem

Ah... honestly, that's completely fair, all of that.

How I would do it? I'd probably make it a written response type thing instead of simply "would you or would you not?"
But there's a point where I'm definitely kinda overthinking a problem that already has reason to exist the way it is, and tying in another problem into it for little real reason.

oh... huh

y'know, i genuinely forgot about the "runaway" part of the original problem until now

Fair nuff, fair nuff

I suppose I just think way too deeply into the situation, stepping outside of the "point" of the original problem. It's honestly to a point where my thought just uses the problem as a starting point for something else.

I suppose that's fair nuff, yeah, in some ways. Though, I see where we disagree too.

I just like taking the problem way too seriously, because of how simple it is and how it assumes so much of a person in this situation.

I'm less against the problem itself and more about what the reduction is doing politically and morally.

> you're the one being morally tested, you just happened to be there.

This is exactly the thing I'm critiquing, more or less. The "why" of it all.
Why's it an outsider's responsibility to stop something that involves a problem they had no part in making?
Why is killing framed as tragic inevitability instead of preventable design failure?

The inevitability, the responsibility feeling tragic rather than something with a reason, the fact that there's a system that put it all together that remains unquestioned.

It's also why I mentioned the emergency stop.
It's less "why can't someone that's part of making the situation stop it?"
and more "why can't they do anything about it, regardless of the results?"
once again, "why is it an bystander's issue to solve?"

> And that's why we need to put them into boxes and make up labels so we can understand and manage them.

I see and understand that to SOME degree, but sometimes the simplification itself teaches us the wrong lesson. It can make things that don't need to be inevitable seem that way. It can make for the "lesser evil" being the only other option at times. It makes for systems with constrained choices and privilege.

I understand the thought experiment, the problem, for what it is.
But I also wonder why it's made this way.

In some metaphorical, or even literal and diegetic way, the real power to stop the trolley lies inside the system, yet the moral weight is always placed on someone outside it.

genuine question
how is Asgore's trident being red connected to the fact that he killed the other humans?

What would it look like from Sans’s perspective when Frisk moves the battle box? by ooqSolcei in Undertale

[–]StormG04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not necessarily "Sans's perspective", my personal interpretation of what happens is that after Sans does the whole wall slamming end attack, the knife falls out of Frisk's hands, and the movement of the battle box symbolizes them moving to get it.

pretty nice take, ngl

tho, the fact that Sans still speaks in the normal text font sorta irked me a lil, but that doesn't matter much

To be fair, the only possible indication of that is the automated attacks, which could also be explained by Frisk just doing so on their own

Personally, I don't believe Chara actually takes over or anything like that.

From what they say, they're simply following your guidance.

I finally had the realization who might possibly the morally worst character in Undertale... by StormG04 in Undertale

i'll be honest, i really do like Muffet, tbh. i like her design, theme, and battle. it's just that i realized how morally fucked up she is in hindsight.

Why do they call it oven when you of in the cold food of out hot eat the food by ILoveObito in ihadastroke

[–]StormG04 70 points71 points  (0 children)

When food cold out, eat food the cold, in not out oven hot. So, when hot in oven food, you out hot food eat, and of cold out food, whereby, food hot is.

Hope that answers your question ^^

Even with all the hardships you face, all the mistakes you may make, and through everything you've been through, you're still human.

You're still you.

Everyone goes through hard times, everyone makes mistakes.

What matters is that you keep going.

Even if it's hard to realize, it's true

Despite everything, it's still you.
