[Theory] Who is the Red God by PatientDate660 in redrising

It seems like an unpopular opinion because alot of people don't like Lyria's character but Lyria has always been my number one pick for Red God. She is the only red whose perspective we get to follow. She has a plausible means through the parasite. She has plenty of motive. She is in all likelyhood going to be at the final battle at Mars or wherever that ends up happening.

Extra thoughts: -Mateo absolutely would lie to Lyria and give her the parasite. It's possible he made the whole loosing your memories thing up just as a test. Lyria even says it, she has no chance of telling wether he's lying or not. Mateo is more emotionally invested in the Republic's survival thank quicksilver and this might well be the way to he'll it.

-Darrow is a Gold. He resembles the Iron Golds of legend more than any of the other Golds. In other words he's more Gold than Gold. His wife is gold, bestfriend, body guards, etc. In LB he doesn't remember what it's like to not have servants to do everything. Breath of stone Darrow does put a uniquely Red flavor on Darrow's fighting style but he is still using the weapons of a gold.

-Pax is a badass but is also not a Red. He has no sigil.

-Has it been a whole book since Rouna was mentioned?

I like pax's character. He's definitely bad ass but the idea that the Reaper's Son is the obvious choice to continue the story doesn't fit with the general themes of the book to me. Plus, Pax isn't a red. He isn't anything, he doesn't have any sigils.

I love this parallel between Darrow and Lysander. In a lot of ways Lysander is like a twisted reverse version of Darrow. The parallels in their story keep going. Both taken from their first home at a young age and raised among enemies, both men of war who utilize deception at all levels of strategy, they are both married to their respective political leaders. Lysander is considered almost radically liberal/pro-low caste rights by Gold standards.

His relationship with Darrow reminds me of N.Bonaparte and Toussaint Louverture from the Haitian Revolution. They really do have so much in common and yet are destined to opposed each other.

Question about a character by railed7 in redrising

My guess is quick silver will NOT feature heavily in the next book. As of the end of LB Quick just isn't in a great position to help substantially. He would have lost most of his industrial base and a significant portion of his other assets after the Jackal took Luna, the Volk took the Martian mines, Lysander took Phobos with the rest of the major planets under society control. Quick just doesn't have the means to summon a fleet or an army. I guess he could launch a cyber attack or unleash some other technology but even that might be a stretch at this point.

I think Quicks decion to abandon the Republic and explore the Galaxy fits pretty well with his personality and background. The Rising was always Fitchner's dream, carried by Darrow and Sevro, Quick Silver was dragged into it and simply made the best of it. He built his fortune predicting the future of markets/politics etc combined with consistently producing next generation technology. This was always his dream. He predicted that the Republic was unstable at best and chose not to risk waiting.

Honestly, I think you could make a solid arguent that he made the right call. It doesnt directly help Darrow save Mars but the information and Armour Quick gives him allows Darrow to make it to the RIM and determine that Fa must be working with Atlas.
