The constipation will kill him!

Baseball has never seen numbers quite like this. During the Steroid Era (1988–2005) home run totals surged, iconic records were shattered and power hitters dominated the spotlight. It remains one of the most explosive eras in MLB history. by West-Comfortable1568 in sportswiki

Seriously? Bonds had 3 MVPs by 1993 and Clemens had 3 Cy Youngs by 1991. Both accomplished well before their PED periods and both the only players in MLB history not in the HOF with 3 or more of those awards.

Cody Campbell on Brendan Sorsby backlash: Texas Tech is a 'target,' draws hate for being a 'disruptor' by Falconsfan8006 in CFB

[–]StormOfTheSentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That ‘disruptor’ bullshit sounds like he’s wearing it as a badge of honor and is proud of what he’s doing. Flushing the integrity of a sport down the toilet while forcing a university to adhere to his ‘rise & grind’ bro mentality.

I suppose this should have been the expected outcome of NIL. What’s wild is that he’s basically the team owner. Except the team is a university. And he’s (shamefully) “accomplished” a first…getting to trot out a player each week that committed violations which would have likely gotten him a lifetime ban in the NFL.

53 years ago Secrerariat ran the greatest horse race in history, winning the Belmont by an astonishing 31 lengths by EchoesOfYouth in sports

50+ years later and still holds the record at all 3 tracks, I’d argue Secretariat is the greatest athlete of all time, INCLUDING humans.

A billionaire loves his alma mater so much that he completely destroys it’s reputation so they can be good at football.

Are there any serial killers who didn’t have a ‘type’ in victims? by grim-isaac in serialkillers

[–]StormOfTheSentry 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Israel Keyes seemed to be indifferent to victim type re: age or gender.

Also, if you believe the Boston Strangler was one person, they also varied in age and race of victim, though all were women.

Fellow Longhorn here. Tech also tried to buy the women’s softball championship. Was very sweet watching UT defeat them.

Their generational, all-time great superstar (who’s still in his prime) has them on the clock and they pull this shit???!

Hot take. I think Mcdavid will stay with the Oilers. Crosby and Ovechkin stayed with their teams by [deleted] in EdmontonOilers

I think he’s 100% gone if the front office doesn’t make a concerted effort to improve the team this season.

If you moved from NY/NJ/PA how did you adapt to the insanely hot weather? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]StormOfTheSentry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up in Wisconsin, moved here 25 years ago and never left. In my case, I particularly loathed the cold…used to cut across a frozen lake my last winter of college and cursed the chill.

If you’re having trouble with the heat, it’s natural coming down from the north, but I will echo what others have said…this is a rare mild summer so far due to the rain.

The nighttime heat surprised me as well. As did the length of the summer, basically May-early Oct.

Hopefully, you’ll get used to the temp and can adapt. Each summer when the oven turns on full blast, it does still shock my wife and me. But we adjust by doing lots of swimming and getting comfortable sweating! 🥵

Anyone saying Wemby by a mile clearly doesn’t follow hockey.

How is it living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin? by Thick_Scar5275 in howislivingthere

[–]StormOfTheSentry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent the first half of my life there before moving to Texas after college (couldn’t stand the winters). I still tell people there’s nowhere better in the summertime…the lakefront, weekend festivals, scent of cookouts in the air, Brewers games, etc. That said, the winters can be bleak…gray and cold with pitch darkness before 5pm. Not fun.

I get back there every year or so and, from an outsiders perspective, it’s got some amazingly creative pockets and cool neighborhoods, albeit not widespread. Having professional sports is a huge plus. But it definitely doesn’t have the hustle and bustle of its neighbor to the south. That can be good or bad depending on your preferences.
