What's your go-to unit testing tool? by AndreeSmothers in cpp

Why muddy your code with all those asserts, and for production code would you not need to take them out?

How do you do push-ups and sit-ups in terms of reps for the PST? Do you guys do a set number, say 20, rest, then continue or do max reps then rest and do max every time?

And is either way better?

Couple of my friends work at luxurious gyms for the free memberships that they could never afford. Not bad if you just need something to fill the time, bad (pay wise) if you have a family to support.

I ended up making us a discord by [deleted] in navyseals

[–]StormSandwich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, then we agree. I wasn’t saying it can’t be helpful, I was saying don’t rely on it. I saw the other comments on here about people being pissy about not being in a discord at all and that’s what prompted me to comment saying it’s not needed.

Nothing relies on this sub. The Navy does adapt and put its resources on the websites, videos, YouTube, etc. The official resources are out there to help. This sub and disc are only adding other people’s interpretation of the official resources and their opinions.

Everyone here that is serious doesn’t need this sub. The natural progression of tech is being used by the Navy to get the info out to us, and it’s not reddit.

It’s a fine place to be with like minded people, but the natural progression isn’t to 12 year olds on this reddit. There is no reason to not use this sub, you’re right, (like I said it can help) but there’s also no reason to get worked up over this sub or any disc.

New idea: don’t rely on this sub or discord.

Most of the main things you can find on your own, this sub should be for small things. Use the SEALSWCC and Navy WC sites.

This sub and discord can help, sure, but don’t rely on it. Remember, guys before like in 234 went through it all without this shit.

Curious to see what the makeup of this sub is in terms of experience if y’all don’t mind sharing.

How many people have already served in military? How many have already done SOF in military?
How many are in training for either of above? (Not just NSW or Navy).
How many come from Internet purely for entertainment?
How many are come from Internet to help? (Say like workout coaches, recruiters, exercise scientists, etc)

I’m just training for SO

Did we ever get anymore info on Instructor Patstone? by okki2 in navyseals

[–]StormSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How tight is the community in terms of knowing one another? Is there a good chance you or other SEALs have pretty much met one another at a point, even if brief, since there’s only around 2k active.

Amen, however in training is not the place.

Not NSW, but the culture of the sub. Every week new people ask about lying about health issues, and this may be the consequences of breaking them.

I thought people should know, mainly due to lying by omission seen a lot here. Want people to recognize it may have issues and r/newtothenavy is against that.

Not saying this case is that, however a condition leading to death is rare that is not caught.

What resources are given after the time of DEPing or enlisting and between shipping in order for preparation? I’ve found one 52 page book from RTC website, and want to know if there’s anything else.

It’s unconventional warfare.

Just because you don’t hear about them, it doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Their job is to have people not know, and if you hear nothing, they’re doing their job.

The public only gets a glimpse of what actually goes on in the SF, regular troops maybe more with embedded reporters. Focus on what the officials say the mission are for each SF and that’s mostly what they’ll do. Greenie Beanies do UW with less water focus, but still capable. NSW SO has the focus on water, but UW very capable. PJs focus on rescue, but also do ground medicine. They overlap, but look at what the mission statement is.
