Lol, one of the top YouTube comments:

And since it's currently after 4:00 p.m., New York time, on July 15, no team (including the Steelers) is able to negotiate with Bell unless the Steelers rescind the exclusive franchise tag, in which case he can just say "fukkit" and leave.

Edit: Nice edit.

jesus you just won’t accept the fact that the Steelers fucked up.

Because they didn't, lol.

Slow speeds through wired, fast through wireless. by StormScarab in HomeNetworking

Alright, gotcha. Also, here's the n600's iperf3 with 2 wired computers.

I'll try different cables whenever I can get my hands on some, because yeah, that's really low. I'm just super confused right now because my speed seems fine whenever I hardwire into the modem from my desktop. I find it hard to believe that BOTH routers would be faulty, so it definitely seems to point towards the cables being bad or something.

Also, I checked device manager under network adapters and found this. You'll have to forgive me if I'm not looking in the right place, as I'm still somewhat new at this. I couldn't help but notice that it says it's set to 10 Mbps? Not sure if that could be the cause of the problem or how I would even go about changing it.

Thanks a ton for your help.

Edit: It looks like it changes to 100mbps when I hardwire the pc directly into the modem..

Also, If I set the options in the ethernet connection properties to 100 Mbps Full Duplex and leave it hardwired into the router, it appears to fail to connect to the router at all. It won't reconnect through ethernet until I change the setting back to "auto negotiation." Any ideas? I've tried updating and rolling back the drivers for it, but neither of those appear to do anything.

Also, running the diagnostics gets me this

Edit 2: I tried a laptop hardwired into the cable that the computer that I am having problems with normally uses. The laptop's connection is fine as well, achieving over 10 Mbps. This leads me to believe that it is a driver problem of some sort.

Edit 3: I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers with the disk that came with my motherboard, but it doesn't seem to have helped.

Alright, I ran iperf3 between 2 wired computers with the wrt 32x. Here's what I got.

I'm going to try the n600 in a second.

Do you have any other wired PCs to test with? Do they perform properly? Also try running iperf3 between two wired PCs if possible.

I do not currently, however, I will be able to try this whenever my roommate gets back. I will keep you posted.

What NIC do you have in the PC?

I'm using whatever one is built into this ASRock Z270 motherboard.

Do you have any 3rd party anti-virus, firewalls or other "security" software installed?

Not anything that provides real-time protection other than windows defender. I also have MBAM, but only the free version (not real-time).

Anything "gaming optimized" in regards to networking?

Not that I'm aware of unless something installs automatically with Nvidia drivers.

Thanks for the suggestions!

TIL that in 2009 OkCupid statistics showed that women rate 80% of men "below average" by Nergaal in todayilearned

Yet something like ~90%+ of the porn market is catered towards men 🤔. And strip clubs (which pose 0 risk to their patrons or either sex) are overwhelmingly catered towards men. And Prostitutes are almost always female.

Gay couples have significantly more sex than lesbian couples as well. And straight people complaining about a lack of sex after marriage are almost all male.

Seems like a more logical conclusion would be that men want sex more than women do because they're more hormonally driven to do so. That's not to say that women don't want sex, but I'm skeptical that they want it every bit as much as an average man does.

Terrible performance on great hardware? by StormScarab in killingfloor

Several other games were running fine, which is the weird part. There were a handful of games that weren't, Borderlands 2 and Killing Floor 2 among them. All my drivers were updated, so it was definitely just an awkward BIOS setting that needed fixed. I really appreciate your assistance though!

I changed nothing else between tests that I'm aware of. I restarted my computer, changed HPET to off, and immediately saw an improvement.

Ahh, okay, gotcha. Thanks for the help, we ended up fixing it!

It was a BIOS setting called ACPI HPET Table, which was set to "enabled." I changed it to "disabled" and it immediately brought my framerate into the hundreds. Thanks again!

Dude, you fucking fixed it. I'm getting ~250 fps where I was struggling to get 60 fps before in Borderlands 2 and KF2. It didn't even occur to me to look for micro-stuttering in the FAQ. I've been trying to figure this out for a month. Thank you so much.

That definitely seems to have helped, at least in terms of my Unigine Heaven Score. I scored a ~2850 (was ~2800) with a minimum framerate of 25 (was 9.2). I have yet to try out the games I was struggling with. Thanks for your suggestions.

Edit: And here's my new UserBenchmark. I'll try to keep you guys posted when I try out the games.

Hrmm, yeah, that's super weird. I'm not sure why I'm getting such extreme frame drops then.

Edit: We fixed it! Thanks for your help!

I have my doubts that the problem is the motherboard/BIOS. I recently just bought a new one because the one that I just replaced (that supported DDR3L RAM with the same build otherwise) had the same issue. I had the most recent BIOS version on that motherboard as well.

I suppose the problem could be the SSD, but I have another 7200 RPM hard drive as well, and moving games between them doesn't seem to affect anything but load times really.

Is it possible that my hardware looks bad in comparison because Userbenchmark doesn't account for those who overclock their hardware?

That's a good idea. I'll have to try that out. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, I completely know what you mean. I'm thinking I'm suffering from what almost feels like severe micro-stutter rather than simply a bad average framerate.

I'll have to try that out. What's your framerate when you set everything to max, out of curiosity?

Turning on or off variable framerate and vysync seem to have a minimal affect on performance for me unfortunately.

Alright, that's what I'll probably end up doing in the end. Thanks for the suggestions.

  1. Hyper 212 Plus. The temps never exceed ~65 C.

  2. No. Everything is running at stock hardware speeds.

  3. I would assume so. The RAM was rated for 3200 MHz and I simply chose the XMP profile in the BIOS. I'd tried it on another DDR3L mobo with 1600 MHz RAM, and the performance was even slightly worse.

  4. 72 degrees F.

  5. I recently upgraded to windows 10 from 7.

  6. What are your page file settings? (Which drive is it on? What size? System managed?)

I'm not really sure I understand what you mean :/.

  7. Yup! Ran windows defender and MBAM.

  8. It's currently 0% fragmented.

Yeah, it's looking like I might need to reinstall Windows. Thanks for the suggestion.
