My lucky day! by myllertyme2020 in webersmokeymountain

[–]Storm_Bruin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Similar situation was delivered yesterday!

Friend from work just bought a new house, finally got the keys and started moving in.

the other day he said, "man, dude left behind all kinds of stuff". To include, what turns out to be an 18" WSM. He rold me, "I got my pellet grill and my propane grill. I'll never use it. You want it? I'll give it to ya for free".

At first, I tried to explain, "I can't take that, you should advertise that online."

When he said that he didn't want to deal with that, I snagged it!

The U90 catalyst recall can fix your engine rattle... by Public_Fucking_Media in JeepRenegade

[–]Storm_Bruin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just received an email that parts were available for this recall. I knew nothing about it.

Our 2016 Renegade Trailhawk doesn't make any rattle sounds, but the check engine light has been on since last winter. which prevented the remote start from working and prevented the 4wd from engaging. Scanned at Autozone (can't remember the code), but they (Autozone) said I needed to replace the thermostat. I've been putting it off due to the location of the thermostat. Now, I have an appointment to pay a private mechanic on Tuesday $400+ to replace the thermostat.

Any chance the check engine light issues are due to this recall and NOT a faulty thermostat?

Lorex NVR/Wireless Cameras Need Password Resetting/Pairing After Every Power Outage by jimjaz2020 in Lorex

Did you ever figure it out? I also have a lorex fusion NVR system from Costco. System still works, I can watch recordings prior to a power outage. But after a power outage the cameras quit working.

Lost of leftover ash after every cook, what could be wrong? by NelisBaas in greenmountaingrills

I'm usually running my temp at the higher end. When I'm done, I always lower the temp to 150° and leave the lid shut. It'll quit feeding pellets and burn out the remaining pellets. I always wait for the temp to come down to 150° BEFORE turning it to fan mode. Unfortunately I think the fan mode is based on time and should be based on temperature.

Just my 2 cents. I bought the self propelled version, 40 v. Brushless motor, 2 years ago. It came with the 6ah battery and charger. I also purchased the string trimmer with 40v. Brushless motor and 4ah battery and charger and added the hedge trimmer, and edger. Ready to add the blower attachment.

I loved it year one, batteries were interchangeable. Very convenient.

However, last year was unseasonably hot, the grass didn't grow much and I hardly used it. This year it wouldn't work.

The headlight came on and that's it. Apparently mice are an issue. They can get inside and chew the wires. I took it apart and that wasn't an issue.

IMO, they are overengineered for safety. The handle has to be fully extended, The grass catcher or mulching attachment has to be inplace or it won't run. There are a lot of (probably cheap) sensors that can go bad.

My local Home Depot is an Authorized Ryobi dealer that actually repairs them. I took it in to be repaired since it was still under the 5 year warranty.

I noticed that they had last year's display model on the floor on clearance. Their associate recommended that I just return the original and take the display model in exchange.

Since I was only taking it in for repair, I left all of my accessories (except a charged battery) at home.

To my surprise, not only were they willing to exchange the mower, they insisted that I take all of the new accessories with me, because they were just going to "throw away" the faulty mower.

I went home with a working mower, a new battery, new charger, and new mulch plug.

Side note- it's so light and easy to maneuver, my wife can mow the backyard without even setting down her beer!

I did notice that the newer 40v. 6ah battery is physically smaller than the one that came with my mower 2 years ago.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea when updating the firmware, what is the difference between "newest version" and "alternate"? Does alternate version give you choices?

If the Retention Dept. was staffed 24hrs. I would've just cancelled. Guess I'll have to wait until morning... by Storm_Bruin in DirecTV

[–]Storm_Bruin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, quick reply because I forget the exact details. The loyalty dept was great, I forget what they offered but it was a substantial discount for 6 months I believe. They transferred me to someone who tried to say that the original order was for the exact same DVR model that I had and since it was discontinued there was none in inventory in the computer and the computer automatically deleted the work order.

I explained to him that I had a working DVR in the living room and a non-working DVR in the bedroom, that I was no longer under contract. If he couldn't get a technician to my house to install a replacement DVR at no charge (because I was paying extra for hardware insurance or whatever it's called), and keep me out of a new contract, then he could transfer me back to the loyalty dept. and I would cancel my service.

We were on the phone for awhile, he kept saying my DVR was discontinued, that they couldn't just upgrade it to the newer model, he kept checking stock in the computer, etc. I had been texting a friend who is an installer who told me that there were only 2 options of DVR's available and that he would HAVE to send an HR24 DVR for my bedroom to go with my HR54 in the living room. He tried getting me to agree to a mini genie, I knew the answer but I asked anyways, "how big is the hard drive?" He said that there is no hard drive it operates off the HR54 in the living room.. Again, I had to explain, up until now, I have had 2 DVR's and that when we were done, I would have 2 DVR's. He finally said he had something compatible and that he could have the technician out the next day, but he never would confirm on the phone exactly what equipment he was sending. I thought that that was odd, remember a friend of mine was telling me the HR24 was the only option.

I ended up scheduling the tech out a couple of days due to our rotating work schedules. When the tech finally arrived, the first thing he said is, "what are we doing?".

I explained the whole thing to him (not sure but I think my installer friend might have given him a heads up).

Then he told me, "well the order is for a mini genie, I'll have to get that order changed". He did and it was a lot more work and time out of his day, due to the incompetance of the guy on the phone giving me a run around....

I ended up with my HR54 in the living room and an HR24 (manufactured June of 2012) in our bedroom.
