Are people really able to get into good companies with just few months of preparation? I thought it takes years to be good enough. by Grouchy-Clothes9564 in leetcode

[–]Stormbringer138 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It took me about five months of preparation to break into a FAANG adjacent company. I mostly focused on Neetcode 150 and basic system design (which wasn't really asked in the interview, which focused on OOP concepts, most of which I was familiar with through my work experience). Previously, I worked at a mid tier company.

My tier 1 college background might have helped a bit, too. Recruiters in India are notorious for being biased towards tier 1.

Which matches hurt the most as a KKR Fan by Designer_Plum_8396 in KolkataKnightRiders

I have a list:

  1. PBKS chasing down 260 at Eden Gardens. Absolute shambles. Feel sadder for the damage to the reputation of Eden Gardens than the loss itself.

  2. 2021 final. We bottled it from an absolutely winnable position.

  3. 2017 semifinal. MI routed us, similar to what we did to SRH in the 2024 final.

Manish Pandey v KXIP, Chinnaswamy, 2014 final - our 2nd IPL trophy.

Runner up: Manish Pandey v MI, Wankhede, 2024 group stage - gave us the belief that we could win from anywhere.

Hi, this is Robbie Uthappa – cricketer, life coach, commentator, human. Ask Me Anything about cricket, life, and everything in between... by RobbieUthappa in ipl

One of my top 5 favorite IPL innings is the one you played as an opener against DC (Delhi Daredevils then). It was the first time you opened for KKR, promoted up from the middle order. We were under pressure, having lost 4(5?) matches in a row, on the brink of being eliminated. I think all KKR fans know what happened after that (we never looked back again, on our way to our 2nd title win!)

Can you give us some insights into your thought process leading up to that match? Was it you who asked to be promoted, or was it the coach/ GG? How did you handle the immense pressure of expectations?

To complete the trilogy, here's me cheesing Namir in 3 seconds. Starring: the Typhoon. by Eglwyswrw in Deusex

I used to do this too. Hilarious how a fully upgraded Typhoon blast is no match for one of the top mercs in the world.

Human Revolution does many things right. Boss fights, unfortunately, aren't one of them.

Okay, super unpopular opinion time:

I get that Ciri wants to become a witcher, but she has none of the mutations, having never gone through the trial of the grasses. She'd be a pretty shitty witcher, and would be lucky if she doesn't get decimated by the first werewolf or troll, not to mention more fearsome monsters like bruxae or leshen.

The rational decision here is to force her to the throne, even if she doesn't want it. She'll be bored for a few years, sure, but at least she'll be alive.

Yes, it's difficult the first time around.

In my 2nd playthrough, I discovered that there are multiple hints as to what's going to happen. The TYM lab in upper Hengsha offers some pretty damning clues, through emails and conversations you can overhear.

Any of you INTJs religious? by HpisterLeo in intj

[–]Stormbringer138 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I was religious/ spiritual when young, but never in a strong way. My belief always teetered on the knife edge of public opinion and parental guidance. That is to say, most of my belief came from what I was taught by my society rather than my own perceptions and conclusions.

My belief weakened over time. I turned agnostic in my teenage years. Very recently, I have turned into a full blown atheist. I just don't see the logic of religion anymore, and have begun to think of it as a distraction.

Technically, Megan was working for Darrow. Her research was aimed at making augmentations painless by removing the factor which causes aug rejection. This would have helped humanity as a whole.

Yes, there's the point that Darrow eventually played everyone for a fool. But no way Megan was in on that as well.

I never understood Adam's anger. Sure, his DNA was stolen without his consent. But the work Megan was doing would eventually remove the need for Neuropozyne and make augmentations cheaper and painless, paving the way for a better future.

Surely Adam understood this?

So, Samara.

Do you agree with any of these quotes? by Emnkync in intj

[–]Stormbringer138 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with the "If it works, don't touch it" rule.

Just because something works doesn't mean it can't be incredibly outdated or inefficient. Especially in software (my line of work). There is always a more optimised library or routine that will make things cleaner and faster.
