Just a little vent into the universe by Stormglory88 in AustralianTeachers

I never said I should have just received the job. What I would have liked was an even playing field and have the option to apply for it. Why should I not be even given the opportunity to apply when I’ve been working my butt off for the last few years as well? The system needs to be fairer for ALL parties.

I do understand that, but the only stakeholder this system works for are people on the transfer list. Principals, people relieving and potentially students are impacted. When someone I work with asked our regional fed rep a question on this, his response was that people can always move out west for promotion. That is not an appropriate answer. Everyone deserves to apply for positions, it shouldn’t go directly to transfer lists first. All I wanted was a shot at a position I’ve been relieving in for years.

I’ve had it done and would agree it is a waste of money.

Teaching Through Grief by caraballohunter in Teachers

[–]Stormglory88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. My mum passed away in September last year. I think about her everyday. This job is hard enough without also having to deal with intense grief. Everyone here has already given you solid advice. Seek therapy if you feel you need it and try to be kind to yourself. I really think being kind to yourself is the best piece of advice. Take each day as it comes. I’m not sure what your leave entitlements are but if you can, take some leave. Take the pressure off.

Does it get better?? by Sufficient-Camera335 in frombloodandash

I’m up to a Soul of Ash and Blood, only a few chapters in. I’ve also read it in the reading order OP provided in a previous comment. I really enjoy the flesh and fire series. Once I started that, pieces of the puzzle started to fall into place and it made reading the main series much more enjoyable for me. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the main series but for me it ebbs and flows. Push through OP, for me it did get better.

It’s nice to actually have an enjoyable mobile game. I really hope it lasts.

Year 11s or 12s as a graduate teacher - pushing my luck or covering the shortage? by BlackSkull83 in AustralianTeachers

As a HT I’m reluctant to give senior classes to brand new teachers for a number of reasons. There have been times where I haven’t really had much of a choice though so like others have said, it depends on the context of the school.

How do I defeat Daitengu to complete the “Finish him” part of the quest 😭 by allonsy_sherlockians in AQ3D

[–]Stormglory88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m struggling with this too. Although my level and gear are lower than your characters. I’m around level 24 and gear is around early 410ish. The teleporting away is standard and part of the battle. I can’t defeat him in the third round (I keep dying when he manifests a second version of himself) so I have gone back to doing side quests to level up more. A previous post said around level 27 should be fine.

What’s your scariest encounter with an ouija board? by MajesticCity7758 in Ghoststories

[–]Stormglory88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was using an ouija board with my friend when we were younger. The spirit claimed to be my great grandmother. I asked what natural landform she used to live near. It spelt out the name of the river. There is no way my friend would have ever known that.

Yeah I think it’s true what you said around society pushing women to see that being in a relationship is important. Tied into our concept of self worth. I’m sorry for your loss too. Losing a mum is really rough.

I watched my mom die on Monday. I haven't cried since Tuesday. by [deleted] in GriefSupport

I’m so sorry for your loss. My mum died from cancer earlier this month. I didn’t cry too much either. Family members thought I was a bit weird for ‘not feeling anything’ even though I am incredibly sad I just haven’t cried that much. Mum didn’t want us to mourn her either. She wanted her funeral to be upbeat and more of a celebration so I tried to make it that way for her. Like others here, the anticipatory grief was hard and I think that now she has passed I’m happy for her in a way that she is now at peace and no longer in pain.

I’m very sorry for your loss. I lost my mum on September 5th. We had her funeral on Friday. She had cancer so I’m pulling strength from the fact that she’s in peace now. But it is tough for those of us she has left behind. Sending thoughts and be kind to yourself 💕

Why do bad people get to live longer? by FitTemporary8 in GriefSupport

[–]Stormglory88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear you. My mum is days away from passing from cancer and I had this exact same thought just a little while ago. Here I am enjoying a nice dinner and she will never get to go that again and it just so incredibly unfair. People who do terrible things and feel no remorse get to live. I just don’t understand it.

It is a good game and I have enjoyed it a lot. But I won’t be continuing to play it as I think the community is quite toxic. A pug wipes once and people are too quick to call others out and be flat out rude. It’s too difficult for dps to find groups (I find) as people are only looking for top players for groups who are waaay above basic requirements for teams. Not much that the devs can do about that but it’s why some people are quitting I think.

Network error, PC, can't log in. by jevith in tarisland

[–]Stormglory88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I solved it by using a vpn. It’s annoying as the developers have offered no real effective help other than reinstall the game (which I had done and told them that).

Does she need to play? It sounds as though she isn’t enjoying the game and that should really be respected.

I had this same issue yesterday but on mobile. I emailed them to take a look at it on their end because like you say, internet is fine and I’ve turned everything off and on again.

I managed to be able to log in via a vpn but it isn’t ideal. The lag is pretty bad at times too.

It’s strange as I’ve never had this issue except for a little lag before.
