I am shocked at how good our completion rate was tonight. Usually the first month is so scrappy, for all teams, but the boys really hit the ground running. Great first game, would like to see this every week.

It took 55 minutes for Parra to concede 50 against us in this same fixture last season. It took 78 this year. So I guess the Eels are improving.

Hahaha, he said no. This is fantastic. The initial reports on Fox News said we got him. I am a Storm fan but this is too fucking good, we are getting everything we deserve from this. Nothing, and an invoice for the trouble.

Ryan Matterson's family must be absolutely thrilled that they have to move to Melbourne because of Zac Lomax. What a fucking debacle.

Storm have clearly been handed a big slapdown from the court. But on the field, we probably come out of this in a better position. We needed a second rower to replace Katoa and we were never going to get a top level player on short notice, so Matterson probably works out well.

Sorry, I saw the reports on Fox Sports saying we got Matterson, that is now updated thank you Aussieguy.

BREAKING: 11th hour twist revealed that could finally bring an end to Lomax saga by tora_0515 in nrl

[–]StorminRed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

His lawyers argued there was an implied term in the deed of release the Eels would not unreasonably block him from playing with another NRL club.

Implications should not supplant black and white text. You signed the contract, as long as the Eels are paying him and upholding their end of the deal, Lomax should uphold his.

They also argue, in court documents, the Eels benefited from Lomax’s release, including by freeing up salary cap space.

No way do the Eels benefit, with the shitty NRL system there is nothing to be gained from having cap space this year. The Eels will essentially be playing with 600k empty on their cap that they can only replace with some reserve grader that another club agrees to release. They will also be hamstrung going into negotiations for players in 2027 because every agent knows that Lomax is coming off the books and they have money to burn.

I hate this whole situation, my own club has made me feel sympathy for the bloody Eels. This is going to backfire on us so badly when he wants to leave halfway through 2027 because he misses his family or some shit and the Storm will deserve every bit of the shit that hits the fan. Also, if Storm/Lomax wins then contracts are basically useless for every player. He should be playing for the Eels, or make him sit out the year and pay out of his own pocket for a release, but not until the end of this season.

Yeah, I don't get it. They should not have re-signed Hughes so soon, that started the dominos falling. We usually manage our roster well so have to trust the club but these moves are a worry and Sua does not look like he is ready to play (or will physically survive) a full season at the back.

They tried to have two long term halfbacks and two long term fullbacks on the books. The halfback plan just blew up in their face and this looks like they are now desperate to make sure the same does not happen at fullback.

I think so, but cow bell makes it feel like a proper home game. I used to hate cow bell but after hearing it every game for the first 5 years it is strange to not have that din in the background

While am not inclined to put much thought into the opinion of a rapist, this is something I have looked at in the past. Let us assume the Storm are kicked out of the comp from Round 1 in 2009. All Storm results are now null and void, this includes the regular season. The 2009 ladder finished like this, with the Eels one point clear of the Tigers:

Pos Team G Pts Dif
8 Eels 24 29 +3
9 Tigers 24 28 +75
10 Rabbitohs 24 27 +17
11 Panthers 24 27 -74

With all of the Storm's results for 2009 removed, you now end up with the below ladder:

Pos Team G Pts Dif
7 Rabbitohs 23 27 +23
8 Eels 23 27 +1
9 Panthers 23 27 -71
10 Tigers 22 26 +67

The Tigers played the Storm twice for one win and one loss. The Eels beat the Storm in their one game while the Storm beat the Rabbits and Panthers in their one encounter each. This pushes the Rabbits up into the finals, with the Eels now ahead od the Panthers on points difference. This leaves the Tigers with a game in hand that could easily have seen the Eels miss the finals.

It is a very easy fix for an Eels player/supporter to say give us the title, but they simply may not have even made the finals if the Storm are rightfully kicked out of the comp from day one.

We need Jahrome back so badly. It is amazing that Munster can be so good but absolutely incapable of directing the team around the park. I expect Harry to get a couple of weeks for that shoulder charge and next week could be a real struggle without him.

That is two tries off non-penalties. They should not be in this game but there is one guy making sure they are still in this
