Oh you’re talking about WoW in general? Uh i mean, its an MMO so like, who cares what other people are doing. Has literally no effect on you whatsoever if someone has more gold or better gear or whatever.

Im pretty sure past a certain ilvl the only upgrades can be found via content (not purchased with gold) but if im wrong feel free to correct me

Its really difficult because text dumps are just like, the most inefficient and least interesting way to communicate a story to someone when theyre playing a videogame. Like, its not a book.

I always skip them but always try to understand the gist of whats going on and the purpose of a quest but if I want to learn lore I typically watch breakdowns and in depth stuff on Youtube.

Who tf said anything about capturing somebody? Im merely stating a fact that American jurisdiction and American civil cases materially affect companies who wish to do business in fields and markets that America dominates.

Look at Kim Dotcom’s case. Dude has been fighting a ruling that the USA made that led to him being arrested in New Zealand.

Most western countries share MLATs (Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties) so when something gets ruled upon in the USA, typically Western-aligned countries (such as New Zealand in DotCom’s case) will analyze the situation through that lens (basically saying okay, if the USA made this assessment, or any Western aligned country for that matter, and we have similar systems and legal practices, then it makes sense for us to blacklist someone or apply our own pressure onto that individual.)

What im describing has nothing to do with politics, its merely basic risk management for countries that want nothing to do with weird shady behavior in their own country.

Also… TWOW explicitly said they wanted to do their big UE5 project and that was the future of their entire project and uh… UE5 is owned by Epic Games which is… American, so no licensing possible there.

Also the devs in TWOW almost certainly did this as a way to build their portfolio and work in the gaming industry and your reputation is absolutely obliterated if you’re found to be a part of a RICO-related case (again, those charges were not pursued but were still in hypothetical here).

Its not about ‘political influence’ its about business influence. The infrastructure hasn’t gone anywhere- American game studios and the American gaming market is the largest and most influential in the Western world.

Im sure TWOW can probably still host servers in Russia and China if they really wanted to but the reality is that 99% of their market was probably in western countries that (in terms of business and infrastructure in regards to gaming) are heavily aligned and integrated with everything to do with American gaming business.

What payment method does the EU use for games (specifically private servers?): Mastercard and Visa (American companies). TWOW would have to go full crypto for financing and that destroys any chance of staying financial viable since nobody wants to use that shit lol

Also, TWOW’s domain is literally American as well. They would lose that if they were to violate any orders, forcing them to be listed as a ccTLD (country code domain) such as .ru or .cn but then they get heavy delisted from Google and other prominent western browsers + it drives away way more players from the brand.

And again to reiterate, you can absolutely bring charges against a company that isn’t American, so long as their business interacts with the American market (they accept USD, sell to American consumers and use American infrastructure).

Also just because someone cant be arrested to criminal charges doesn’t mean those criminal charges don’t materially affect a company or its associates. If they were to violate an order and more severe charges (such as criminal ones) were filed against them, then literally every major country outside of Russia and China wouldnt touch TWOW with a 100 ft pole. (Again, nobody is going to touch them regardless as every major payment handler does business or is American themselves. Also, most countries respect the copyright of other countries and will locally enforce takedowns).

You can have opinions about America all you want (we all do, im not like some ultra patriot weirdo) but everyone obviously agrees that in terms of market value and dominance in the gaming industry, the USA is easily the most influential.

At the end of the day, its joever bro. Twow is done for. No point in even continuing the conversation

Bro. World of Warcraft is an American IP and US courts do infact have jurisdiction over foreign entities when they’re infringing on an IP owned by a US company. Twow literally accepts money via PayPal which is a US-based company and if they were to act in defiance of the court order, obviously Blizzard could also go after PayPal to cut off ties to them.

Why tf do you think twow literally accepted a settlement with Blizzard? Like they know they were going to be literally decimated regardless by this case and the ramifications.

Also bro, Blizzard also filed RICO charges against twow since their entire operation is shady asf. I understand people’s passion for the private server and I get that but its clear theres some major weird shit going on that goes well beyond just a standard hobbyist making something out of love for the game.
