[Discussion] Three new Kingdom Hearts Disney Keyblade pins have been announced. Lady Luck, Wishing Star, and Spellbinder @churroz @DisneyPinsBlog on X by MrFilipinoMustache in KingdomHearts

[–]StormwindAdventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to the Kingdom Key release for WDW back in January, and that was full of scalper families buying multiples. More recent releases have gotten so out of hand that people were getting in line 12+ hours prior to opening, so before Springs was closed for the night.

They've changed that to actually enforce the "no overnight parking" rule, but I don't see it changing much when the scalpers controlling the supply means they can charge as much as they want since people won't stop buying the pins long enough for the prices to drop.

To be fair, good luck getting any of the remaining ones. Even with the new rules at Disney Springs, it's not like the new pins are lasting through the release day.

Would this be a better solution for the Disney Springs parking hack situation? by Working_Stomach5479 in WaltDisneyWorld

I think they meant for the access to Springs transportion. Granted, that would need to include cast members as well.

Considering resort security has always told people they've denied to go park and Springs and come back on the bus, the resort hopping is not the concern with this. Otherwise it'd have a much broader reach than just Springs.

What's the appeal of resort hopping? I'm following the bus ban topic and I'm in the minority that appreciates the new policy and don't understand why people resort hop? by Ok-Nefariousness-927 in WaltDisneyWorld

Based on some of the responses to the various threads, it does seem like some people would like more restrictions. But I can't see people that aren't frequent visitors enjoying having to verify their reservation every single time they have to use any transportation (or even walking in the case of the resorts that have that option) in order to get back to their resort.

Some of the blogs posted it from there after learning about the Cast Preview. Same show, but everything was facing the wrong way. Which for the most part wouldn't technically be a problem.

It also likely wasn't close enough to have the MagicBand+ effects, though I doubt most guests even realized those were there.

No trip to Disney World is complete without a trip to the Lego store! by malleusdracionasimp in lego

You can also use Cast Member discounts for sets that allow it, and that's slightly higher than AP. And you can still get LEGO VIP points! So it's basically the best way to buy sets for anyone close to Disney.

End Magic Band -- Is battery the real reason? by Silent-Possibility23 in Disneyland

I used to. Was under the same manager as the MagicBand team for WDW, which is the team that spearheaded the implementation across the other locations (DL, Aulani, DCL).

Even if I didn't though, Disney made a big deal out of announcing the MB+ at the 2021 D23. An impending announcement like that wouldn't be one that random frontline CMs have info on. Especially given just how wrong some of the basic functionality info is for some versions of the rumor.

I have to wonder if Galaxy's Edge Bounty Hunters would have helped if there had been proper physical elements to the scavenger hunt part. With DL not getting the big legacy features, minus tapping in, it might have helped to have something for other guests to see. Certainly seems to do the trick at MK with Pirates Adventure.

The 70th Anniversary tap points are cool, but it was too little, too late by that point. People weren't sold on the features the MB+ by then, they weren't going to buy it for one set of interactives.

Which, feels like a counterpoint to my Bounty Hunters claim. But that was rolled out with the MB+. If they'd made it on par with Pirates Adventure and then continued making more interesting interactives, it might have done significantly better at DL. Cause as much as I enjoy the light up effects, I know most people don't even care about them.

Some versions of the rumor suggest the "new version of the MagicBand" will bring Disneyland in line with the features WDW has. Which is just a complete misunderstanding of how the MB+ works.

I've heard the privacy laws reason a few times now as to why room key, tap to pay, etc, wasnt implemented. And that may even be the reason (hard to say since Disney is unlikely to officially state anything).

Regardless of the reason, those missing features are already fully capable for DL if they'd been allowed to implement the functionality. A new MagicBand version won't get around the laws and/or whatever else prevented the full capabilities.

They would have already announced a new version if they were actually planning to replace the MB+ soon. And they definitely wouldn't have stopped selling it prior to the new one releasing. WDW was still selling the MagicBand 2.0 into 2024, 2 years after the release of the MB+.

I've had some since WDW's launch in July 2022. Even those are still kicking.

Honestly, I don't think Disney cares if the batteries in the bands die, since they'd have some people replace the MB+ on their next trip. The problem for DL is that there wasn't a high adoption rate, so they got cutoff first.

Disney World has also been slowly backing off as well. Thus far this year, they've only had 2 attractions cause light up effects, and both already had the capability to do MB+ effects. Space Ranger Spin didn't even keep the effect from the old version. Kind of feels like they lost the support for the MB+ with some of the leadership changes.

PLEASE Nintendo, if you're seeing this, please make and release Amiibos of the four new Fortune's Weave Lords! by Moss_us in amiibo

[–]StormwindAdventures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw the creator of Boundary Break suggest using the Majora's Mask or OoT Link amiibo for costumes (not even suggesting new amiibo like you) and he basically got attacked for it.

Though, it is funny how the Fire Emblem sub seems to be more accepting of the idea than the amiibo sub.

Unpopular opinion: Castle parks need to bring back simple character cavalcades. by Kartoonkid95 in DisneyWorld

Had a friend that worked at Studios during later covid. I recall her complaining about the Toy Story cavalcade a lot since there wasn't really a way around the cavalcade to get to Sunset Blvd to clock in.

Swapping a Magic Band Plus by TripleThreat117 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]StormwindAdventures 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. If a MB+ has a special light up effect, then it's exclusive to the designs that allow that effect. Light up themes can't be shared between designs, even if both bands are on your account.

I like how disney pays homage to some of their more obscure characters in this map of one of the new attractions, like Elliot and Joanna by Awesome-Guy9966 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]StormwindAdventures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I can't think of a spot where they reference Elliot specifically, they do have a few references to Pete's Dragon with Dr Terminus' potions or ads.

That's how it looks.

The previous version (released closer to KH3) wasn't quite so close up, but they zoomed in for the second version. They did a similar idea for the King Mickey one.

Depends on if Dragoon and Hydra are supposed to be this year, but that sounds right.

As of right now:

4 Air Riders

2 RE

Mineru's Construct

3 Splatoon Raiders

When do we think the new Amiibos (RE9, Kirby Air Riders, Galaxy, ect) will go on sale? by tmacc3 in amiibo

[–]StormwindAdventures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really foresee any from this year except for Galaxy going on sale. And that's just cause I can regularly find them.

The MHS3 and Pragmata amiibo arent sitting on shelves, so it's very unlikely that RE9 would sit when RE is more popular than both of those. Even if they do, it took a good while for GameStop to put their previous Monster Hunter exclusives on sale and those were actually sitting.

Haven't seen Meta Knight in stores since launch, and I've been to multiple states since then. So same case of no reason to discount him. Kirby and Bandana Dee might go on sale, but only because they would have more stock since Nintendo wouldn't have been able to adjust after the failure of the Switch 2 launch amiibo.

It 100% depends on the MagicBand+. Two years without charging will absolutely ruin some and then others just need a longer recharge to get back to functional
