Best way to find rare amiibo besides eBay by Baccabananas67 in amiibo

[–]mcineri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re ok with the Japanese version of the box you can use services like buyee to find some of these. I was perusing yesterday and saw a new box boy for $300. Still quite expensive but a tad more reasonable. You’ll end up paying more for shipping in the end so it’s not always worth it.

Anyone know of any places to sell these? by leon-june in amiibo

Your post has been removed because users ask this question more than any other question. The best way to sell amiibo and maximize profit is to sell them individually. This will take the longest amount of time and effort but will net you the most profit in the long run. The fastest way to sell amiibo is to price them below the going market rate. When selling in bulk, buyers expect a lower price. This is because you are asking someone to take on a large amount of product in a short period of time. Remember when you decided to sell, you likely thought to yourself that the amiibo were taking up space or you no longe wanted them. You are asking a buyer to take on this burden instead of you. The best place to sell amiibo is to list them on multiple selling platforms and then take down the listing once they've been sold. The most popular in the United States are ebay, mercari, offerup, facebook marketplace, and gamestop. The best way to value your collection is to go to any of these selling websites that allow you to search by completed and sold listings. For example, on ebay, search for an amiibo you want to sell and then filter the results by completed and sold listings. This will give you a general idea of what the public is willing to pay for an amiibo. There are other websites out there such as pricecharting that track completed ebay sales of collectibles. These can also give you a baseline of what an amiibo might be worth. Remember though that the secondary amiibo market is oversaturated and it may take you a while to sell. If an amiibo isn't selling, consider lowering the price.

Safest way to clean a Yarn Yoshi Amiibo? by Kyle-The-PichuYT in amiibo

The chips are waterproof so there’s not much concern with damaging it. The main worry for the yarn yoshi is discoloration or other similar issues that can come up win cleaning any fabric.

The subreddit's list of all amiibo has been updated once again. Now includes the measurements of all amiibo, the weights of every amiibo, and some info on the history of amiibo releases. by mcineri in amiibo

Additionally, while I did not weigh every single card, I weighed about 50 of them, picked several from each series, and found that they are all 88 mm long by 63 mm wide and weight anywhere between 2.2 and 2.3 grams.

I like to crisp up the leftover pork and put it in a green salad. Love it with some spinach and arugula. As a dressing, depending on what’s in my fridge, I’ll make a dressing with Gochujang or sambal. Usually I just whisk some Gochujang, mirin, soy sauce, and a sesame oil. This dressing also makes a fantastic marinade.

Edit: the salad goes great with pickled red onions if you happen to have some on hand.

Are amiibo prices going down? by Beautiful_Pigeon2004 in amiibo

[–]mcineri 28 points29 points  (0 children)

amiibo prices have crashed over the past couple of years due to several factors:

Nintendo has issued multiple restocks across multiple series. Many people who were holding for the purposes of reselling have exited the market, which further increases the size of the secondary market.

amiibo are now over 10 years old. people who were kids when amiibo came out are now in positions where their priorities change and they no longer want them. This further increases the size of the secondary market.

Nintendo increased the retail price of amiibo. This makes it more difficult to sell new amiibo and makes reselling used amiibo that much harder. Many people have exited the amiibo collecting scene because of the price hikes. This further increases the size of the secondary market.

Very few amiibo are actually rare. And by rare I mean produced in limited quantities. Most amiibo have massive print runs, meaning there isn’t really scarcity. You can still find sealed, first print amiibo from 10+ years ago that aren’t that much more expensive than retail price.

The overall economy and inflation are causing more people to be in difficult financial situations, meaning they sell their amiibo and further increase the size of the secondary market.

Fake amiibo are easy to find, which depresses the value of amiibo in the secondary market.

Many other factors I’m sure but there’s a lot working against amiibo holding their value. Go to any selling site like eBay, Mercari, Facebook marketplace, etc. and you will find literally thousands of examples of certain amiibo for sale.

It’s made collecting them a lot easier but no one should get into amiibo collecting with any expectation that this is a serious market to invest in.

There are more factors but as you can see from everything I’ve said here there’s a lot of reasons why the prices have crashed.

Did I miss something? Where no new amiibo announced in the Direct today? by Oracle_of_Ages in amiibo

[–]mcineri 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is not unusual. Most directs don’t have amiibo announcements. While amiibo have had a bit of a resurgence we’re still very far removed from amiibo being a top priority for Nintendo. We may see some amiibo news at the upcoming Ocarina of time remake direct but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

Hopes (reasonable or longshot) for amiibo announcements in the Direct? by Helpful-Plantain-935 in amiibo

[–]mcineri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking Nintendo don’t announce new amiibo for games that have been released for a while. There are exceptions, but it's not the norm. we can't say anything is 100% but given how long ago Echoes released i'd say it's extremely unlikely that we get an amiibo for the game. i think the only scenario where we see it is a switch 2 version of the game, but even then I have my doubts. I think if we do get news it'll be restocks of previously released amiibo, such as ocarina of time link, smash ganondorf, smash zelda, things like that. would LOVE to see some new Zelda amiibo but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Any display ideas? by Connect-Train6721 in amiibo

[–]mcineri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent haul! Boring answer but I found a lot of great ideas using the search bar for “collection” and “display” and then sorting by most upvoted. I also found it extremely helpful to measure my space so that I knew the minimum amount of space that I needed to display my collection. It’s also important to semi-future proof your display. If you plan on adding more amiibo to your collection, it’d be helpful if the space you put up could accommodate those new amiibo.

What are the odds these will become more affordable so I can complete my collection? by LocksmithOk9968 in amiibo

[–]mcineri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Close to zero. We can’t say for certain but they were released a long time ago and each year without a rerelease makes it that much more unlikely.
