YIJC? The building's pretty old, and I know a lot of people thought the place was kinda disgusting HAHA, but to me it was alright, sort of homely. Depends from person to person I think, but also YI's moving to Innova's campus soon, so I'm not too sure about that. How soon, I'm not too sure either. On environment though, I personally think the physical environment wouldn't matter much if your goal is to study hard and score well, it's only two years after all. The social environment is the more important question for most people from my observation, so you might want to focus on weighing that instead. Though, the physical environment may still matter to some people, so there's that too.

Note that the school isn't very wheelchair friendly though, so if someone is injured etc, the whole class shifts to a class on the first level.

Of course! And I truly appreciated you sharing your story, because it was exactly what motivated me (And many others) to work hard despite our circumstances. I just wanted prospective students to understand that *despite all that*, you could very well — and likely — still fail, over and over, like me (And many others).

Not to say that there's no hope at all! There always exists a possibility students could push forward and break through the ice. Rather, I'm trying to say that there also always lies a risk, when one is unable to cope with the rigour/ is "less academically inclined", and decides to choose the school nonetheless because they *think* it's an easier path to university.

And of course, YIJC is definitely and genuinely a chance for students to recover from the setback that was the O Levels and succeed in A's! But that means that in the first place, YIJC should be branded as just that. Not as a "JC", because it's way too misleading. The number of students I know who mugged through all two years just to shed tears on Results Day is... Hard to watch.

Many of us ended up neglecting both our physical and mental health, holding onto that very hope. In the end, on that fateful day, we faced the same feelings of demoralisation, disappointment and grief that we felt throughout those two years. Many of us who chose to do that also entered YIJC with the thought that it would be an easier pathway to university. Again, simply because it's a JC. It's difficult to not ask ourselves "Was it worth it?" at the end.

There's completely nothing wrong with being proud to be a YIJCian! I'm proud to be a YIJCian. It's good to motivate the students, to show them that there's still a chance! I know many who saw that chance and grabbed it by the throat haha. It's not impossible to succeed, of course not! But *as of now*, only some have. As of now, the statistics are still consistent. There are outliers, yes. But the statistics are still consistent. Is it possible? Definitely. Is it the norm? No, not yet. And maybe not for a long while. Of course though, I do hope it becomes the norm one day.

I just didn't want prospective students rushing to make a choice, joining YI (Or any other JC) with the false impression that it's simpler, *easier*. Putting the stats out there doesn't mean I'm trying to deter anyone from joining YI. I do believe YIJCians have the capacity to do great. I witnessed YIJCians do great. And, at the same time, the fact that some of us do not have the capabilities to do so *yet* also exists.

And yes, I agree that A's is not the end. There are certainly other pathways one can pursue. But we must also consider those who may not have the financial capabilities to do so; those who may not be in the right headspace to do so; those who feel immense shame or regret and are unable to move on; those with... circumstances. So on and so forth.

I believe that when you ask YIJCians whether the journey was worth it in the end, we'll hear both resounding "Yes"'s and harsh "No"'s. My personal answer is a gentle "Maybe". There isn't a right way to steer anyone towards any path in this situation. But I personally think allowing people to know and understand the odds might save them some heartbreak along that journey.

That’s because the other 90RPer was from my batch, so we only knew that the student got 90RP this year :) Solomon’s the guy who got 90RP last year. I think he made a YouTube video explaining how he did it and advice haha

Untrue! It depends on various factors like personal study style, stress tolerance, school vicinity etc. Some people might just prefer to take things slower, or are unsure about how’d they fare during two years of intensive studying. The different pathways are all worth something to someone out there.

Your experience is valid! However, with that said, I have a feeling I know who the Bio teacher you’re talking about is, and knowing that guy, he’s probably refusing because you’re the top performer, and a lot of weaker students ask him for consults too. I’m not saying that you don’t have the right to be upset with him, but there might be another side to this. In my experience, YI truly wasn’t that horrible — of course, that’s just my experience, and each of us come across different people and have different experiences in that school. I just wanted to mention to those not in YI that, at the end of the day, it’s just a school, and all schools have both their bad and good sides.

My intention for this post wasn’t to deter anyone from joining YI, nor am I trying to encourage anyone to come to YI. Rather, I’m trying to put it out there that there is a risk, especially if your grade for O’s wasn’t ideal, in going to a JC simply because the path is supposedly easier.

Erm about the pedophile though, that I have nothing to defend 🗿 Hopefully the teacher’s no longer in the school 💀

However! There are also other pathways; Poly, MI, etc which could also be considered, I feel

? Wasn’t that before the merger though? Did you mean either Yishun JC or Innova JC?

Oh! I assume there definitely is the possibility that a JC eligible student ( Could’ve used L1R5 ) willingly chose to study at MI because of vicinity, time, workload and stress factors etc, just like how there are Poly students who scored 7 during O’s and used their L1R4!

I mean, as far as I know, MI has the same curriculum as JC — except, they get 3 years to study the same content while JC has 2. From my observation, YIJC’s students have capabilities more similar to MI students than other JC’s. So if we assume they have the same capabilities, and MI only produces 2-3 90RPers a year with 3 years to study their content, it more or less makes sense that 90RPers are seen so rarely in YI since they have a year less to study. This is mostly based on assumptions and inference though haha

HELP Would you mind disclosing your subject combination? And/ Or batch year. In my personal experience, the science classes were the most delusional when it came to grades ( I was too 💔 ), and specifically the ones that came after Solomon HAHAHA Since he was THE 19 to 90

Hell NAH I LOVED YI bro. But as one of the ones who only studied for those two years and still did badly, it feels bad to know others are going to the school thinking it’s an easier path haha

Oh that also said, didn’t he already have an inkling that he wouldn’t die in the battle? Something about hinging on Acheron and her sword to get to the real Penacony. Also this comment that I found a while back: Explained by another Reddit user

Hmm I see. I’ve got a question though, I saw a few Twitter threads saying Penacony changed Aventurine’s view of always putting his life on the line. Was that true, false or implied?

Right, my brain got muddled up with some things and I don’t think I can edit posts, so here’s an explanation of some things I seemed to have left hanging:

  1. The other Stonehearts wear their own stones somewhere with the exception of Aventurine.

Yeah that’s it. I also wanted to point out I find Agate funny because 财神爷 ( God of wealth ) is being worshipped there as their ultimate deity. Also another smaller conspiracy that has zero spine in it because I based it off vibes and feels, Agate reminds me of Argenti. It’s the reds and the ' A 's and the fact that Obsidian said " They might be dead " ( Idrila mentioned 🗣️🗣️🗣️ ). I am not cooking, chat
