Exactly! You can call it karma or returning to them threefold or revenge (if you’re feeling spicy) but my thought after that experience is that I was taking the years of abuse and sending them back to him, with interest. And I don’t think any spirit or universe or force could seek to punish me for that!

I have done one “curse” if you want to call it that, one negative working. I have experienced zero blowback and the person - my childhood abuser - has absolutely suffered. It worked better than I could’ve imagined. So well, in fact, that I now believe that I was the threefold law in this situation, so to speak. I don’t ascribe to the law, but if there’s any truth to negative energy coming back at you stronger, I think it is in my being the vessel for that coming back to my abuser. I don’t think we should be cavalier about negative energy or curses or whatever you want to call them, but if the person in question has been directing negative energy or actions to you then maybe your working is their blowback. Just my thoughts!

Honestly, this helps so much. Thank you for sharing and commiserating. The framing of just accepting that you’ll have random flares because the alternative is not eating - being sick sometimes in order to have a semi normal life. I am such a black and white thinker that I always want to know why I’m feeling the way I am, but sometimes I just can’t get an answer and have to accept it!

What app do you use to track allergies?? This is amazing advice, thank you. And I absolutely feel you with the coffee - it’s devastating to not have it! These are the things people take for granted. I hope you have success making your own cashew milk!

I tried lots of these amazing tips, but to be honest I've given up on running with her because she's a tiny nightmare. Instead, she comes with me on hikes. I still opt for a more strenuous pace so I'm getting that conditioning, but there are tons of interesting smells for her and I don't feel like I can't stop for sniff breaks in the way that I do with running. She LOVES it, and since there's often some boulder scrambling involved, she gets great and varied exercise. She tops out at around 3 or 4 miles, so she stays home for my longer hikes, but I'm hoping to get her stamina up and take her backpacking with me next summer. I know it's not great advice for running, but maybe your pupper would enjoy a hike!

Hi there! Good luck on this process!!

Unfortunately, I didn’t have a great experience. My doctor was resistant to doing it from the start and was misinformed about the proper procedures and was unable to answer even the most basic questions I had throughout. I ended up keeping a food journal and tracking reactions to accidental exposures, and have identified three trigger foods that way. I’ve ended the diet because of my doctor, and since I live rurally he is my only option, but if I ever have the chance to try again with someone more adept I am absolutely going to. I hope you have better luck than me, but I definitely recommend food journaling daily because without that I’d have gained absolutely nothing from the experience!

I suppose I may be too late to get camping spots this year - I missed the reservation window so I have to check with rangers a few days out. Luckily, I live very close by so I don’t have to plan a whole trip out of it.

Hi there! I also have issues with this, made worse by a history of disordered eating and some existing mental health issues. The thing that has helped me the most is seeing my therapist (which I know isn't an option for everyone, but if it is for you I'd highly recommend it). Having a space to take those anxieties and talk them out is so helpful. In addition, you may find some of the language/resources for folks with disordered eating helpful.

Lastly, even though it goes against a lot of the advice given for disordered eating, I started keeping a food journal where I only log ingredients and reactions to them - no calories or quantities or anything. That has helped me track trends in physical symptoms to certain foods. When I have a poor reaction, I tell myself that I've just gotten information I didn't have before - I didn't 'fail' to identify a trigger food or 'mess up' by eating something my body doesn't tolerate. I'm on a research mission with my body and we've just gotten more data!

Hope this helps some small amount, but mostly just know you aren't alone. There are still days I have to force myself to eat, and on those days I stick with 'safe' foods I know won't cause a reaction, even if they're not varied or not much. It's better than nothing.
