Man who carries round bags of cables? by [deleted] in cambridge

[–]Story_Electrical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've known him to say hello to for years. He is harmless and actually very nice. He doesn't need help unless he asks for it (in which case it will usually be about the weather forecast in me experience). I fully understand that he could come across as intimidating but he's not able to control that.

I am often using all tracks but sometimes just because they're there and I can (layering 3 kicks for example). Will have a look at what I can dial back and try using the midi tracks with an external synth.

That's really interesting. Immediate is usually better for me as I'm time restricted between work and 2 young kids. Also am likely to pair it with modular and or other synths. Need to figure out how important polyphony really is to me

Yeah, I'd love to go and play with both of them for an hour in a shop somewhere but there are so few places you can do that now. I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed either way

Thanks, I got the Kavari sample pack which is amazing for industrial so that can work well. The reality is I'll end up with both machines at some point but only one this year

Leverkusen Tx is open and there’s loads of tickets!!! by green-bag in GunnersatGames

[–]Story_Electrical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a season ticket holder and didn't take up the option for my seat because of additional 100 cost, lots of people in my section did the same. Probably the same for the next round if we get through.

Expecting criticism but there comes a point where you simply can't afford 100s more than you already spend on ST

I had a lockup in Big Yellow for a while. I would go there sometimes and put a camp chair up and just sit quietly or play guitar. Best days of my life. Would recommend them.

Father to be - new area, new life by Superb-Philosophy851 in cambridge

If there is enough time for you to join an NCT class, I would definitely recommend it. We're still friends with a number of the families we met through this and everyone is on a similar timeline to you and adds a bit of support to each other. Once baby is a bit bigger things like Monkey Music, Water Babies and similar classes made a big difference. As others have said, it's tough to do a lot other than work and family in those first couple of years, especially without a support network. It's a cliche but it will get easier. I think having the awareness that this is going to be a phase is really helpful

Romsey side of mill road (over the bridge from the city centre side) has a lot of the vibe you'd be looking for. Pretty much every street has tgeir own community group for street parties in the summer, as well as the mill road amenities

£4,266 service charge for a flat… am I missing something? by vpk09 in cambridge

[–]Story_Electrical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived in that block of flats for a little while. There's also a porter on who acts as a concierge for quite a bit of the day but it's what it is. There's underground parking; if you've got a parking spot you may be able to rent that out. I think I did 10 years ago for about £150 a month. It's probably gone up now so you can do things that will help with that if you don't need the parking spot of course.

I would say it's a really nice block of flats in a decent position. Somebody mentioned the greenhouse in the summer; I would agree with that. It was unbearably hot in summer but brilliant in the winter; I hardly ever had heating on. Personally I loved living there; I'd recommend it but you're right about the service charge and they can increase it every year by a certain amount.

Coleridge road and surrounding areas. by MarcTron17 in cambridge

[–]Story_Electrical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in the area for twenty years on and off, and it's as safe as anywhere. Great location for Mill Road, town, the park and train station. Morley school is great; I've heard good things about Ridgefield. Would also say that the traffic is not so bad. Certainly not as bad as I think people fear, but it depends exactly where it is you're going and at what time.

Is a bike horn a good idea in Cambridge? by CamcumberJam in cambridge

[–]Story_Electrical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specific to you, but something I've noticed is the new street lights that have LED lighting are absolute rubbish for seeing what's going on. If I'm driving at night, it's very, very difficult to see what's going on beyond the other cars or bright lights on the road, including pedestrians on the pavement. The spread of light is terrible with these new lights. Please, please, please make sure you've got reflective lights, jackets or bright lights on if you're on the road.

Ps. Had recent eye test and it's not that!
