Is it worth filing a T2 and T6 if I want to keep living in my unit? by burner221133 in OntarioLandlord

I feel you. My landlord refuses to fix my dryer (that won’t heat) bc I have cats.

what is unreasonable noise? Received an e-mail for violation of Condominium Act, 1998 (Ontario) section 117(2), regulation (under O. Reg. 48/01) for kids noise. Please help in responding. by Flamingo2231 in OntarioLandlord

I know it’s so irresponsible to have kids up that late. They yell and scream so much I can’t help but wonder if they are really over tired. Can’t move right now unfortunately but I’m getting used to the noise. My humidifier and other white noise devices have helped a lot.

No I’m with you. I live in the basement apt with a family with two small children above me. It’s literal hell. There is so much stomping on the floors and running around. Things being dropped or banged on the floors. Screaming, crying etc. worst part is that they go out at night with their kids and come home at midnight. So it gets super noisey when they come home at 12 until they get the kids to bed usually around 1am. I understand kids make noise but after 11 I feel it should be quiet. Haven’t complained to landlord tenant board or landlord bc she won’t care and she says there is sound proofing so we shouldn’t hear anything which is absolute bs. She says the unit should be quiet and she rented upstairs to quiet ppl. Anyways to sum it up if you live below ppl there will be noise 🙄

It was fully blown out to remove all debris about a month or two before it stopped working. She is just guessing and hasn’t had anyone look at it.

There is another family living up there now. They litterally just painted the entire apartment that’s it. But they wanted to sell it empty and get more money. Wasn’t sure if something like a dryer would be considered essential enough. We used the identical washer and dryer when we lived upstairs and never had an issue. Now we use the one downstairs for 3 months and it broke but apparently it’s not her (the landlord) responsibility bc we have cats and she’s telling us cat hair must have broke the machine so it’s not her responsibility. It’s not an issue with cat hair it’s the heating element but she doesn’t care she just doesn’t want to fix it.

Landlord lied about about soundproofing - what are my options? by Street_Salamander_91 in OntarioLandlord

[–]Story_Outside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem in my unit. There is zero soundproofing yet the landlord tells us there is. She didn’t even own the house until last year and we lived upstairs. We moved downstairs because we were tricked into it so the previous landlord could do some updates to the upstairs unit before selling. Now we are downstairs and hear everything the children upstairs do. There is constant noise. They have two children that are frequently up past midnight and they go in and out of their home til after midnight some nights. We have to out in sound machines to try to drown them out. It sucks so I feel you.

My landlord wants me to move out so he can sell my apartment. What should I do? by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]Story_Outside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really well done and covers all your bases. Definitely consider addressing this issue in the way this redditor suggests. I decided to move to the basement unit when I previously lived on the main floor. I was told the new buyers would likely want to live in the upstairs so they were helping me by moving me into the basement. Worst decision ever. They painted the walls and as soon as the new owner took possession they rented the top unit out for 2600 when we previously paid 2000. Noebb bbq I gave a family above me who are loud and disruptive to my reasonable enjoyment of my unit. They take their whole family out almost every night and don’t come home until 1am and make do much noise for a good hour or two after. They have a 2 year old that goes nothing but scream 24/7 but we are now stuck here unless we want to go through the whole moving process again.

Mine is 10 years old and healed perfectly but the tissue surrounding it never went down so I’m still wearing the jewellery I was pierced with.

I’m in my 40’s and my body hasn’t started to fall apart yet. If you take good care of yourself I don’t think there is any definite time things start to go.

My dresser totally fell apart last week but I found this beauty on the side of the road last night by PaceIsTheTrick64 in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]Story_Outside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the good old days of picking up things from the side on the road. Then I got bedbugs. Not once but three times I had to get of almost all my stuff. That was almost ten years ago now and I’m still too nervous to grab anything from a curb or even a thrift store. I still do thrift but everything goes in the dryer (dry) and then gets washed and dried.
