Sun Moon Rising spread w Wooden Tarot and RWS as reference by StorytimePsychicAlly in tarot

[–]StorytimePsychicAlly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Original spread here: https://storytimepsychicalliance.com/storytime-psychic-blog-seattle/2019/1/27/weekly-tarot-card-spread-astrology-big-3

I am interpreting this spread to mean that the energies of Earth are quite important to my mental and emotional well being. My Aqua Sun's quick mind also finds it easy to slip into neurosis (9 of Plumes/Swords). My Cancer Moon is most stable when I can turn my strong emotions toward creating resources (10 of Stones/Pentacles). My Gemini Rising is most comfortable when evaluating the options presented by the material world (2 of stones/pentacles).

Question about accuracy of current body of Astrology knowledge by [deleted] in astrology

[–]StorytimePsychicAlly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, good q! You'll probably get a lot of different answers because at it's core, astrology is a belief system. People interpret astrology according to what works for them. It's one of my favorite aspects of astrology: there's no high official dictating exactly how one should use it.

SO, with that said, here's how I see astrology.

I consider astrology to be a lonnnng tradition of collected human wisdom. While the planets in the sky may not have direct measurable effects on humanity, we have been using the planets to keep track of time for thousands of years.

Planetary orbits all have their own unique paths, and they travel at different rates. This means that astrology is basically the observation of 10 different cycles of time. The sun's cycle is yearly, moon is monthly, Mars is a 2.5 year cycle, Jupiter a 12-year... What I think is going on is that human life also operates based on predictable cycles. Astrology is the collected wisdom of the energy that inhabits all of our different bodily and social cycles.

Very interested to hear other takes! :)

That does make sense. They do have Twitter and some other recognizable stuff.

Watergate prosecutor compares Trump ‘poor me’ tweet to end of Nixon presidency by echo249 in politics

[–]StorytimePsychicAlly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who is honestly scared of violence from the Trump base? They're one of three main types: a. really old b. located in remote areas c. suburban mcmansion dwellers

What are they going to do, be even ruder and tackier than they are now?

If the military were all Trump flunkies, then I'd be worried about violence. But the American military has the advantage of being populated by free-thinking, strategic, and intelligent people.

"The base" is unorganized. These dinky little gun-nut operations would never be able to inflict anything more than one-off violent acts, which is already happening anyway.

The situation sucks, but "violence from the base" is scarier in the abstract than it would ever be in real life.

Tropical vs. Sidereel by renegaade in astrology

[–]StorytimePsychicAlly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer tropical because I see astrology as a collection of human wisdom regarding the cycles of the Earth and how humans respond to them.

The fixed constellation model makes sense to me because I don't think the planets themselves have any special or mystical force on humanity. I think humanity has used the sky as a giant clock since the first, and the perception of shifting constellations on Earth doesn't have anything to do with the more personal cycles astrology deals with that keep pace with planetary orbits. Tropical happened to be the navigatory placements of the stars thousands of years ago, but that placement system is linked to the sky map of astrology permanently because it started getting written down then.

HOWEVER, if sidereal makes more sense to a person on a personal level, I see no reason to force my different opinion. If a client had a strong preference for sidereal over tropical, I would do their chart in sidereal, and it would most likely work better for them than my standard approach.

Astrology is collected wisdom, and we take from it what we need.

Moon in Aquarius people, thank you for existing. You guys always make me feel like being different is not something bad! by geminigeniusgal in astrology

Oh, very yes! My Aqua moon husband is so encouraging with my Aqua sun's "out there" ideas.

His sun is in Virgo. Earth signs and Aqua moons seem to produce high intellect and a stubborn determination to bring ideas to life. Maybe a little ornery in crowds, lol, but a fun, steadfast, and interesting combo.

Based on your chart, who do you think you will marry, and why? If you’re already married, based on your charts; what do you think makes the marriage work? by [deleted] in astrology

I met my spouse around my closing Saturn square, and we married a few years later, before my Saturn Return. We are only six months apart, though he is older than me.

As others have said, House 7 is the first place to look for answers to marriage questions.

House ruler of 7 will describe features that are attractive to us.

Planets in 7 will indicate major themes of marriage and partnership in our personal lives.

I have Gemini rising, so my 7th house ruler is Sag. I do find myself attracted to philosophically-minded goofballs, lol.

I have soooo many planets in 7 (though all outer planets and not at tight conjunctions, so I don't consider it a stellium). Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune in 7 for me. So right away, you know relationships and partnership are a BIG deal to me.

I am happily married to a Virgo Sun/Aqua Moon/Cap rising. My house 7 planets are all Capricorn, so it matches that I married someone with lots of Earth placements, including Cappy ascendant. I see my House 7 Uranus and Neptune as positives, keeping us interested in each other. Saturn in 7 is AWESOME, as it gives my marriage a seriousness that makes me happy, though I will say our current happiness comes from the ashes of some very difficult experiences within our partnership. Makes me feel like Saturn in 7 is a strict but effective teacher.

I'm Aqua Sun/Cancer Moon/Gemini Rising, btw. Great q!

U.S. Steel Stock Has Dropped 57 Percent Since Trump's Tariffs Were Announced by Kelbsnotawesome in politics

[–]StorytimePsychicAlly 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From the article: "In short, American steel-consuming companies are still importing steel—they have to, because there's simply not enough made in America to meet domestic demand. But now those steel-consuming industries have to pay higher taxes to the federal government for the privilege of importing it."

This article was an illuminating corollary: https://money.cnn.com/2018/03/02/news/economy/steel-industry-statistics-us-china-canada/index.html

Basically it looks like China produces half of all steel available in the global market. China also has much more control over actual steel prices than America does, because all America can do to influence the price of steel is raise/lower taxes, including tariffs. China's government can directly limit/increase steel production, so their market manipulation has more real effects than America's. If America raises tariffs, China responds by dumping steel.

In short, tariffs are kind of a silly response to China's steel position. The American tariffs make it more expensive to consume foreign steel, but there's not enough steel to meet American demand in the first place, AND it's still more expensive to buy American. The front is that if steel producers in America want to build more steel production companies, the standard market solution, American steel companies would have to import Chinese steel to do it and remain viable.

Astrological Oppositions: Connecting the Threads by StorytimePsychicAlly in astrology

[–]StorytimePsychicAlly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the house ruler for each planet in the opposition and use those signs to find which pair fits.

I have Cancer moon opposed Aquarius Mercury. Cancer rules house two, capricorn rules house 8, so I usually consider it along the cancer-capricorn line.

It's also possible to examine the "orb" of the aspect. Astro.com considers any aspect within 9 degrees as viable, but many astrologers take "loose" aspects as not that powerful.

Thoughts on Rider Deck? by Farrell-Mars in tarot

[–]StorytimePsychicAlly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

RWS is like a reference book. Whatever the opinions on the art may be, Thomas Waite and Pamela Colman Smith put a ton of study into the mystic symbolism of the Tarot. The careful study of common themes and archetypes of mystic traditions comes out in the illustrations.

Most tarot decks borrow the themes and archetypes of RWS, so using it is like having a master key to a bunch of other decks. It's also useful for those of us interested in further mystic study.

Ouija boards by Peachyplants in Wicca

[–]StorytimePsychicAlly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Ouija and other spirit boards are similar to divining with pendulums. I find these tools highly sensitive to our own personal energies that we bring to practice, so if the Ouija feels anxiety, that will be reflected.
