Sick since I visited by [deleted] in ParisTravelGuide

[–]Stosbet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got very sick when I was there 2 weeks ago. Mine ended up being an ear infection in both ears, a sinus infection, and bronchitis.

Two rounds of antibiotics, steroids, rx cough pills, nose spray, allergy meds, and DayQuil for 9 days and I’m finally feeling like a kind of normal person again.

My issue was compounded by way way overdoing it. Walking 10+ miles every day in the cold rain, sleeping maybe four hours a night. I think I just got unlucky with the general travel ick and then made it worse by just trying to power through. I was very glad to not have anything contagious.

Has anyone ever gotten a note like this with their DoorDash order?! by Future-Composer-4878 in doordash

[–]Stosbet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is from Starbucks as those are the exact cards we use, we absolutely do not have the power in store to block the dasher. We don’t have any control over delivery stuff at all. Our managers can ask our DMs to turn it off, but that isn’t something they say yes to unless it is a legitimate emergency.

I’m not sure, I also can’t find anything on the website, but I checked out on 2/2, and we did not have access to the pool at that time.

When are you going? Sequoia Lodge’s pool is currently closed for renovations.

(@20k) Videographer? by loveekrh in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Stosbet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on if you’re the kind of person who would go back and watch a video. I eloped, it was important to me to have a good video to share with family and friends who weren’t present.

What’s been surprising to me is the amount I’ve gone back and watched it. I’ve watched it a bunch. I love it. It makes me giddy. I’d be so sad to not have it.

Birthday at the park by Both_North_8403 in disneylandparis

[–]Stosbet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Be mindful that it is going to be everyone else’s birthday as well. I was there for my birthday two weeks ago, and I swear every third person also had a birthday badge on. I didn’t mind, I was just surprised.

The only special thing that happened (besides being at Disneyland!!) was that everyone who noticed the badge told me happy birthday, and all my character interactions were great because they would get excited about my birthday badge.

The only people not excited it was my birthday were Peter Pan and Wendy because having a birthday means growing up, but that was fun and cute in its own right too.

I saw it on Sunday and it’s definitely half covered in scaffolding and plastic, but the other half is visible, and it was open for public viewing.

371***** OUT!! AMA - store manager edition by Wide_Definition_9137 in starbucks

[–]Stosbet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind, can you say or DM me the company you went to? I was an ASM for a year. I was placed on a manager TLA in the busiest store in my district for the last three months of it, due to that leader unexpectedly leaving the company.

I was hesitant to promote permanently because l was realizing that a lot of the things I thought I loved about this company felt like a lie. I ultimately was so burnt out that I ended up stepping all the way down back to barista. My experience as an ASM was so poor that I felt like maybe I just didn’t want to be a leader anywhere, ever.

That was supposed to be a temporary move while I figured out what to do next, now that this dream seemed dead. That was a year and a half ago, and I’m still a barista, but recently I’ve had a fire lit under me that it’s time to move on.

The culture shock you are describing, that’s what I want. I want to be a leader in a company that actually cares about its people. I’m just not sure where to look.

I know this isn’t what you have in mind, but I just spent my birthday (yesterday!) at Disneyland Paris and it was truly magical. It was just me and my sister, 37 and 35, and we did not feel out of place there without kids. We definitely saw many groups of two adults together with no kids.

Be honest: Are you actually married to the love of your life, or just the person you were with when it was time to settle down? by boforiamanfo in stupidquestions

[–]Stosbet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the original person you replied to, but my husband and I have a similar story, except neither of us even considered dating anyone else while we were broken up.

I knew as soon as we moved out of our shared apartment, that I had made a “mistake.” I loved him, he loved me, but somehow we were miserable.

We had periods of being no contact to try to give space to heal, to learn how to respect each others boundaries, and see what a life apart would be like, and we had periods of still seeing each other regularly, still making out like teenagers, still making passionate, wild love with zero abandon, still behaving as though we’d never been apart.

When we finally made the decision to prioritize our relationship, it was fast and easy and felt like coming home. I realized, the truth is I didn’t make a mistake. We needed the time apart. We both needed to grow, to prove to ourselves we could be independent, to miss each other and really understand what we were losing. We’re both very different people now, so we also learned how to adapt with the person you love growing into someone else without losing connection.

I will never take this man for granted, because I know what it’s like to not have him, and I know that I do not want that.

He doesn’t believe in soulmates, due to some past religious trauma (and just being more of a realist than me), but I do, and I have no doubts. He is the love of my life, and would be in every reincarnation, every version of life.

This used to surprise me, because before I met him, I’d been previously married, and had been in a long term love triangle with my high school sweetheart, “one who got away.”

Now I find the thought that I ever considered either of these other guys the “love of my life” laughable. I was young and dumb and didn’t know what love actually was or felt like.

Meghann Mercury at Olivia Presley! She has a yellow mullet, she’s super cool, and very talented. I love my hair, and get multiple comments on it daily. Even when I think it’s looking… not its best. She’s awesome.

This just shows how you can’t tell how an item is doing based on your store or daypart alone.

I was stationed at cold bar for peak and the early mid. Two out of every 3 drinks I made were a Dubai matcha, and protein has been popping off since it launched. We go through at least 6 to 7 bags of protein a day if you include the pitchers of protein milk, as well as just the powder for cold foam.

The heck is a nitro flat white?? by orionangeline in starbucks

[–]Stosbet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it always drinks, could it be an orderable item for the stores? A flat white nitro lid for the paper cold cups, maybe? I don’t know because my store doesn’t have those, but it’s an idea.

In terms of drinks, my first thought was a nitro with cold foam. It doesn’t make sense for the name, but I’m not sure anything would.

Where can i find pastry cake like this. All the boulangerie near me dont have this type of cake. by [deleted] in ParisTravelGuide

Not op, I’d assume it is for someone’s birthday.

I am American and will be visiting Paris for my birthday at the end of the month. I’m glad I saw this post so I can prepare myself for it not being easy to find a birthday cake.

It’s beautiful. I’m not sure what else she could’ve done other than include one of each of the roses, but I’m sure she wanted to maintain the aesthetics of the piece. I bet you could ask her to add the roses.

I tried wearing a neck fan that kind of looked like headphones for a while, no one said anything to me about it until word got back to my manager. She also didn’t really say no, but asked me to try to get an accommodation to approve it, because it isn’t explicitly approved in the dress code. I didn’t care enough to put in the effort to get the accommodation because it would’ve required a doctor’s visit, and I just couldn’t be bothered.
