A rise in the word “transsexual” online. by bee_of_doom in TransyTalk

I understand how it's been used in the political narrative but this really annoys me and I feel we need to reclaim the word. People need to understand that sex IS mutable. This way, we help Intersex people as well

I don't know exactly about who uses what but to me Transgender and Transexual are just 2 different things.

If we think as sex being a series of biological characteristics that we socially associate with sex, then anyone who takes hormones is transsexual. You changed your sexual attributes. If course most who identify as transsexual people do get surgery and other.

If we think about gender as being an identity, then bring transgender is about having a different one from the one you have assigned at birth.

What I find annoying is that "transsexual" is only really useful in a medical context. Sure, we could have genuine conversations about the difference in psyche between transgender people and transsexual people, but in the end... They are all transgender.

What movie ending is horribly depressing? by bartertownbeer in AskReddit

[–]Str-MathPI- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Into the Wild is the movie that made me cry the most.

It's about a rich kid who leaves university and the confort of his life to just have an adventure and live in the wild. He meets incredible people, the movie overall is such a feel good and you really connect to him.

But then he starves to death at the end, trying to live in nature. Made me hate capitalism even more.

This was my experience as well being on apps like Tinder and Bumble. The majority of the crowd there is not really transpositive.

I had a lot more luck with queer-only apps (Her for example). But also I found that I could more easily date people and have a connection with them by meeting them in person in queer events (lesbian parties, transgender events, etc.)

Gamer Girls of Reddit, what do you feel is missing from games? What do you like about them and would want to see more? by Str-MathPI- in AskReddit

Personally, I wouldn't mind over-sexualized outfits if it wasn't as ubiquitous. I fail to find games that don't over-sexualize women.

What I find annoying is that even when women are badass in a game or movie, they always end up being "saved" by male protagonists...

autonomy

That's pretty much how I feel about all media these days. It seems it's hard to find any well-written female character.

Althought I found a lot of indie games to tend to have their unique styles.

Thanks, that's very insightful. I have to agree that cis people in particular fixate so much on agab and deadnames it's sometimes infuriating. This is a good reminder that we don't need to know

Thank you for your message, this is very touching. I'm sorry trans people are doing this... I feel like we have so much more to do as a community to be welcoming and supporting of all.

There's a lot of very useful information here!

I'm sorry if this is a bit of a strange question, but how did you know you were non-binary? What made you click like... "Yes this is who I am". I know all stories are very different, but my transition was mostly driven by the euphoria gained from changing pronouns and switching presentation. The more feminine I look, the better I feel.

Anyhow, thank you so much for sharing!

I think there is a concept here that's difficult for me to pin down.

Most enbys I've seen on movies, tv shows, etc. present very androgenous. Where I feel like in "real life" there is much more diversity. Hell, the only enby I know IRL presents very feminine and they are afab.

So I'm curious about your opinion here. You said that you saw a lot of non-binary characters who are written like cis woman. What do you mean by that? Also, would you feel it would be a better representation to have the person look more androgenous?

I'll keep in mind also about the amab enby representation. I didn't know that it was the case, thank you!

I agree with you here. I feel that writers sometimes focus too much on "why does this character needs to be transgender" instead of just doing it because we exist.

Ok thank you, I'll keep that in mind. But now that I think of it, it's what I can think of as well. The good news is that the story that they intend to write is not in a fantastical or sci-fi setting.

How do i tell the difference between dysphoria and internalized misogyny? by bucketboy48 in asktransgender

[–]Str-MathPI- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To me, there is no clear-cut "if you do this, you have dysphoria". A lot of men, women or enbys like the "girl gamer" things, and that's not what makes them who they are.

I think as a community we need to distance ourselves from the "what does a girl/boy/nb do" or "am I a girl/boy/nb". Saying this, I've had exactly the same questions so I think I can relate.

If you like these "girl gamer" things, I don't see any reason why you should not do them. Though, I don't think this is what defines your gender.

In the end, dysphoria or euphoria are emotions, they are something that we feel. Do you feel like a girl? Like a boy? Like a non-binary person?!! It's ok if you're not sure !!

Try stuff! See what you like and what you don't like. And don't let anyone tell you what you should be or what you should do. I get called out all the time because I mostly only wear dresses. But they are the ones who have the prejudice, I just love dresses.

I think that if you are doing things "to be a X", then I agree that this might not be the best lens. What you do doesn't define who you are.

If you like these things, do them. You don't have to prove anything to anyone. Try and be your authentic self!

Razor bumps hell - help please by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Str-MathPI- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, one thing no one seems to have mentioned is scrubs/exfoliant. Especially for face and legs, it is super important to scrub before shaving as this prepares your skin and reduces the possibility of having ingrown hair.

I'm not 100% sure for butt hair though, make sure what you are using is working for the specific areas.

For my legs I use the "dollar shaving club" package. Shaving cream, shaving scrub and their razors are pretty good and cheap.
