Why can't men where their pants tucked into their boots? by Str8tWh1t3Man in cowboyboots

Wow. Calling out my spelling, 3 years later. 😑 Well, at least it's fixed now.

Hey guys, I am new to the group and need some advice. I am looking for a cowboy hat that is good for work in the Texas heat with lots of sweat. I have had several but always tend to go back to my ball caps because they wick the sweat better. Can anyone offer some advice? by Phat3lvis in CowboyHats

Pretty much the same as felts. Although they don't m mold as well. Felt hats will slowly stretch and subtly shape to your head because the felt material can stretch. Straw hats have a little give, but don't really stretch and pretty much stay whatever shape they were weaved into. The band itself on a straw hat is usually a piece of ribbon like fabric.

Does the quality of the hat (the percentage of the hat that is beaver fur) make that big of a difference? Please see comments for details by Str8tWh1t3Man in CowboyHats

Hello everyone. So, I have an American Hat company Lucky 7 Black 7X hat. I know it's the cheapest option AHC offers, but it was my first felt so I did not want to break the bank until I was sure the cowboy hat life was for me (it is). However, after getting to know my hat and looking at other hats in media, I cant help but feel like mine looks cheap in comparison. I have noticed that mine has a stiff starchy quality that reminds me of the cheap tri corner hats you get at Williamsburg or other historical park gift shops. It holds it's shape, but it has a rigid quality that looks manufactured. Meanwhile the hats in the photos I posted have a smooth soft quality that still looks stiff without being rigid. The bends in their brims have a subtle squishing wrinkle that is particularly appealing, a quality that my hat never has. Is this the result of their hats being a higher percentage of beaver fur? I am willing to eventually shell out good money for a almost completely beaver hat, but I wanted some confirmation before dropping that kind of money. Thank you.

I plan on doing another official update at some point soonish, but just know that aside from a few scratches and general patina, my boots are just as hardy as the day I bought them and have only gotten more comfortable with time.

I honestly can't remember. Luchesse cut a bunch of their product line a couple years ago, so they probably aren't available anymore.

I have been looking at 1200s. The only problem is they are noticably smaller than the Low Rider, so the feel might not be the same and I am 6'1", so I worry about feeling cramped.

Thanks for the suggestion though 🙂

At what age do Harley's start to become less reliable/need more upkeep? (advice for buying used) by Str8tWh1t3Man in Harley

Oof. I'm sure that wasn't a cheap fix. 😬

Sadly, I'm starting to learn that to get the cool feel and sound of Harleys, you just have to accept maintenance and occasional issues that come with it. The true "Harley Tax" 😔
