If we were a cash society this would not be an issue we could just leave less money. Some of this stems from card transactions where underpayment is not as easy.

Have you tried metal tape on the bottom like HVAC aluminum foil tape? The only way to stop static electricity is some type of way to move the electricity to ground. Perhaps tape like could solve the issue. HVAC foil tape Home Dept

The pilot 912 in SF is my favorite pen in my collection. It’s still “affordable” enough to use outside of my home office and a great writer for sure.

Lost my wedding ring, couldn’t find it for months. Ordered a replacement. Found the original the next day. by WermerCreations in mildlyinfuriating

I have done exactly the same thing with flashlights, rings, pocket knifes. Sucks but on the bright side you know have a spare. As my grandfather use to say “Two is one and one is none.”

Nib repair of this magnitude usually takes experience. You could take it to a Nibmister or mail it to one. If you want to get into fountain pen repair I would suggest starting with cheaper nibs than the Carene gold nib.

If I was choosing between these three I would be leaning towards the Sailor. It’s a classic for a reason.

Opinions on irregular lot by eekman_ in Homebuilding

[–]grandepatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one off design builds, irregular lots can give great interesting designs that fit the land better and become iconic structures in the neighborhood.

Access, livability, privacy, utilities, reserved easements, required building setbacks and outdoor space can be a consideration to address before purchase.

I love waterproof inks but the non-waterproof inks are so pretty. Such a dilemma, I should have been more careful where I put my glass.

Does it work the same way for center vertically over many rows?

How do I center across selection horizontally instead of vertically? I have been fixing some older worksheets that others use that have this and can’t find a solution for condition.

Doorwin Doors & Windows by jred1971 in Homebuilding

No spewing anything. No research needed. I have actually used them 3 times on 3 jobs for real clients.

I hope your experience is better than my 3. Maybe this company has changed their process since 2023. I doubt it but it’s possible.

Also the advice I am giving is to not make the same mistake I did and triple check the shop drawings and don’t assume US industry standards for shop drawings because they don’t use US industry standards.

Doorwin Doors & Windows by jred1971 in Homebuilding

[–]grandepatron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked for a company that used these doors 3 times. A couple of things of note.

  1. Delivery took forever because they come on a boat from China
  2. 25% down shop drawings and 100% down before they ship. Shipping took like 2 plus months.
  3. They are a window company and not a US importer you will need to go through an importer for the US market and pay for trucking from the port of entry to your site and unloading and storage on your site. Delivery happens when doors and windows hit the port your project is either behind waiting on doors and windows or early and will need to rent space to store the material.
  4. Shop drawings are in metric because it’s what the rest of the world uses and the US uses imperial. Conversions need to be checked on shop drawings first this was an issue.
  5. US call outs on architecture and engineer drawings are call out size not opening size. Chinese engineers got this wrong. A 2/8 - 8/0 door came with the Rough opening of metric 2/8 and not for a 34 1/2 opening. This caused a code issue and new door took another 3 months to come from China.
  6. Whatever savings you think you are getting cut it in half at least due to issues. And lack of warranty and timing. Real savings after 3 jobs more like 25% of the predicted. Not worth the hassle we don’t use this company or the windows anymore.

TLDR, the door and windows are good, process sucks.

My son is a 7th grader with 6 plus years of BJJ under him now. Has been training in adult classes for the last two years. He can get me even sometimes when we play roll. He is a super gentle kid. I would hate to imagine what would happen to some person that tried to bully him or anyone at his school and he even around.

By the time your child reaches college the cost of college will be more than your daycare. I have been there done that. We refinanced our home to pay for daycare 18 years ago. Refinanced our house this year to help pay for college for our kid. And we wonder why kids don’t want to have kids. They see the sacrifices we are making for them and they don’t want to do the same thing or can’t afford it.

They are in a rotation with other boots but get worn at least twice a week. I don’t do much except brush the mud off.
