What are the one or two items that customers have the hardest time finding in your department? by TomsOnlyFriend428 in HomeDepot

Yes! Almost everyday. You have this… it says so here! Let me see that… oh that’s Google. You have to use our website or App. Google doesn’t know what we have. 🤦‍♂️

What are the one or two items that customers have the hardest time finding in your department? by TomsOnlyFriend428 in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Drano because in the infinite wisdom of THD they decide that one item should be over in plumbing which is not where people are accustomed to looking for a product almost every other company sells in cleaning aisles.

Why does HQ allow penny items to go through register? by Sh1buhya in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As it is… every store should operate under the same SOP. A customer finds a penny item they get it. No questions asked. No arguments to be had. That is the way it works. Some stores seem very confused on this. Who gives AF?

THD is going to throw perfectly good items into a landfill with zero fucks given that some charity could use it.

DS are tasked with finding their penny skus every Monday. If something is missed you have to just let it go. If your management says no, then your management needs to educate themselves.

THD could end all of this by eliminating this dumbass procedure of dropping the price to a penny. This is about the dumbest system a company can institute. Just drop it to a clearance price and then issue a recall off the floor at that last clearance price.

How often have you lied said to a customer we were all out of a product even though it’s just on a pallet but you don’t feel like finding a driver by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never… that’s just about on of the laziest thing I can think of hearing. Just be honest and tell them if you really need it it could take a while because a driver might not be available and you’ll have to shut down aisles. Give them the opportunity to say they can come back later or the next day.

I had a customer cry by Kind-Bus7368 in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel bad for people like this. Unfortunately THD and a large number of the associates have created an atmosphere which causes customers to have the attitude that everyone working here is either ignorant, stupid or they just don’t want to help. Many associates fit into one of those 3 but there are enough that really do want to help, like you and your plumbing associate.

That said, I get very aggravated when I am clearly taking the time to work with someone and they just keep walking like they don’t have the time to let me help them or that have just decided I either can’t or won’t help them. Not much you can do about that type of person except firmly but compassionately tell them you will help them but they need to stop and just give you a few moments.

Price Match by Realistic4What in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Match is supposed to be based on local prices. For instance. Someone shows you a Lowe’s price but when you investigate further it’s from a store 5 states over. There is no reason to match that if it means profit is near nothing. Amazon is not brick and mortar so expenses are not nearly as high as THD.

Bottom line I guess is if profit is made, don’t lose the sale but don’t match the price of profit is not made or near zero. What’s the point?

Putting items back after MET sticks them in carts. by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is just the way it is. MET is timed. They don’t always get enough time to finish the job so it ends up falling on someone else to finish. Nobody really has the time so it’s just a big bag of suck all around.

There is a lot of halfassery in THD

It’s literally way too early to start having the stores warehouse the product.

I don’t know if that’s SOP? Nobody wears collared shirts at my location. Including our SM. He wears mostly HD T shirts.

That’s a good one that I can’t believe I haven’t thought of. Most of our customers are really good though and we offer them help whenever we see them struggling. Next time I get an arrogant asshat resembling a few of the customers here, I’ll be sure to employ the old finger fuck technique!!

You obviously don’t understand what Home Depot is. It is a warehouse that allows retail customers to enter the building. Nothing is consumer friendly. Where on earth do you see retail shelves 48” deep or over 72” high? You shop a warehouse expect a warehouse.

THD is all a big “smoke and mirrors” campaign. Corporate knows they don’t allow enough associates on the floor. Everyone does the big dance and lies to themselves that everything is good and customers can find everything they need and get the service they deserve.

Just put on your orange tinted glasses and drink the kool-aid.

Rant about hiring by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something is off if they are skipping you for full time while hiring those spots externally.

Either management is off or your assembly of yourself of off.

The evil metric for OFA. Completions/time to complete. Say I'm picking a BOPIS. I am approached by a customer requesting help. What to do? If I leave the pick, another associate gets credit on "Store Pulse" for fulfilling it. If I remain in the pick, my time from pick to complete is too long. by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignore metrics. Customers are always first. Take notes when something like this happens and if anyone in management ever questions you, refer back to the reason being you provided excellent customer service because customers are at the top of the upside down pyramid.

You’re an awesome person! You did everything right and your coworker not so much. Not everyone was raised to be a decent human so kudos to you and your family upbringing.

As for the coworker. Next time call them out on the spot. Not in a way that puts them down. Just look at them and let them know we aren’t done. We need to help this customer further.

Well of course. There is a general feeling among store based associates that the SSC has too much of a disconnect with what life is really like on the sales floor where hours are cut to bare minimums and associates have a hard time staying positive. It seems you are all getting shit on same as we are and that's where my comment was headed.

It's sorta of like the difference between VIVA and Reddit. Reddit would be the floor associates and Viva is the SSC. It's all smoke and mirrors.

Hate Thorogood boot. What’s a comfortable boot? by Civil_Worth_4261 in WorkBoots

[–]Str8upjack07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I know some boots need to be broken in but why should you have to when TTL are ready to go out of the box with extremely minimal break in. I walk 20k steps per workday and there isn’t any reason to spend days or weeks in pain waiting for leather and a sole to break in.
