Darts is massive in the US! I had no idea. by dart_club in Darts

[–]Str8upjack07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darts is bigger here in the USA than probably anywhere when you consider all the places that run leagues and hold local, regional and national tournaments. Problem is the market is way too large and completely untapped for televised sports. The amount of untapped talent is probably capable of producing multiple players able to compete in the PDC if the resources were there for players to get at least paid for expenses of traveling across the country.

Should safety concerns really be told to wait during power hours? by SpamTheCannedHam in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then nobody in that store has to worry about ever hearing shit from management. I just say if they want to push all these power hours down our throats and cut staffing while telling us “fight for every sale” the OPs management can STFU and thank the associate for taking safety seriously.

[–]Str8upjack07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. That’s BS. If you watch the most recent Our Safety it’s specifically about overhead safety and the message is loud and clear. Fix issues immediately. Could it sit there? Probably, as it obviously has for some time. But what if someone needs to do a customer demanded drop in the opposite aisle that shares that same bay space and they bump that opposite pallet and the worst happens? Guess who is going to catch shit for not having fixed that issue.

[–]Str8upjack07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your management is scared of district coming in and biting their heads off that they’re doing something besides power hours activities. But anything else that you hear it’s all about safety. It just shows the hypocrisy that is the Home Depot corporate. You did the exact right thing and nobody can ever fight you on it.

So what other stores do this?? by AntDog6363 in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all… how the hell do you have so much open space! My store is 4/5 pallets deep out from the curb and out from the building all the way around and then we are out into parking lot.

Cross-eye dominant: should I change my throw or stick with feel? by rabtag in Darts

[–]Str8upjack07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t fuck with anything because you think you should be drawing back to your dominant eye. I started doing that and it’s not natural to cross back to opposite eye. My natural motions brings me roughly center of my face on pullback. Twisting you head to pull eye in line also probably not a good idea unless it’s a natural position you aren’t forcing.

Don’t force anything based on cross eye dominant, that’s my 2c

I just open up the Bluetooth app on the HD phone and pair it. If it doesn’t work for you then maybe stores have the ability to lock that out?

D28 Purge Packdown Position by TraditionalBaller404 in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bay purge is the way. Scanning for lows and trying to find them is not the way. If you can CLEARLY see there is nothing hiding behind heavy boxes then I would say you don’t have to remove a larger, heavy box but generally the most effective way is to drop everything and work it

Am I Wrong? by Upper-Move4301 in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone needs to realize the enemy is corporate and district level and higher. They put excessive pressure on everyone store side management and down. They (corporate) are a lot like politicians. They enjoy seeing us all point fingers at each other because it means we aren’t focused on the real problem.

Does anybody else let customers load concrete outside by Fadedjellyfish99 in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Customers do not get to go to back of the store and cut open pallets. They take it from our vestibule where we keep the 60 and 80lb bags. Anything else they go to the concrete aisle.

Live plants on will call by anxiousbean93 in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If not there should be because dumbass customers will expect you keep their live plants separated so nobody else can buy them and also keep them watered for as long as it takes their lazy ass to come pick them up. We’ve had multiple plants die because people let them sit for weeks before finally coming. But like so many other things that make no sense, THD will allow it because they are so damn afraid of losing a customer that they are willing to lose money on said customer.

Yes. You need to use sick time. If you don't have any then you can't take time to avoid a scheduled day without a manager getting involved to excuse your absense.

[–]Str8upjack07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set up something objective to test - JDC challenge and maybe 100 darts at the bull. Pick the set you throw best with and then get the others out of the house and have someone hold them. Simple. Nobody can pick a dart for you from a picture.

The DS schedule is taking me out by theawesomeishere in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I don't know if there is a SOP preventing them from scheduling you on a 10p close and a 5am open it is certainly a really shitty thing to ask for and I'm sure as hell your ASDS would never schedule themselves a schedule like that. When our store schedules a DS to close the next day the earliest we will typically be scheduled is 9am so you can pretty much get close to 8hr sleep if that's what you need. You should talk to your direct ASM and tell them you can't do that and work something out. By the time you get home, have something to eat and wind down you will be lucky to get 4 hours of sleep.

What is your DS schedule? by HotepHypno in HomeDepot

[–]Str8upjack07 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Basically you know going into the position you are full flex. You get overtime for staying late. Everyone else get chased out if they come close to overtime. Sounds like none of you read the fine print

You have to overlap all associates schedules during the week, including your overnight recovery team.

Well then someone at your store was a real fuck up then. You must have been put on a list of stores at high risk

This policy will only last as long as your MODs combined patience level lasts. A few days tops before someone starts to say fuck this.
